Science Night

Thank you to all the families who joined us for Science Night last Wednesday. It was lovely to see students showing their work and talking families through the activities they had been preparing in Science.

Prep students demonstrated Rainbow Rain and Lemon Volcano experiments, explaining what happened when the coloured water moved through the shaving foam or when vinegar, dish soap was added to baking soda. In Years 1/2, students tested Balloon Rockets by changing variables such as the amount of air in the balloon and the length of the straw. They also ran Magnetic Fishing challenges using magnets, paper clips and pipe cleaners.

Years 3/4 students raced the magnetic cars they had designed and built. Many groups had spent time adjusting their wheels, axles and magnets so their cars could move smoothly along the track. Years 5/6 students presented their marble runs and explained how slopes, turns, friction and barriers affected the marble’s movement.

It was great to see students sharing both their final designs and the testing they had done along the way. Many students were able to explain the changes they made after something did not work as planned, and families enjoyed seeing the projects in action. Thank you again to everyone who came along to support the students and helped make the evening such a positive experience for them.
