Year 10 Mock Interviews - Volunteers Needed - 7 & 9 July
As part of their Career Development program, Year 10 students are building employability skills and exploring future pathways through career profiling, guest speakers, workplace learning and mock interviews. We are seeking support from members of the School community to help with:
- Mock Interviews: Tuesday 7 July (12.00–1.00pm) and Thursday 9 July (2.30–3.30pm). Volunteers will conduct short interviews with students applying for a fictional café position.
- Work Experience Placements: 28 September – 2 October. We are particularly seeking opportunities in IT, hospitality, engineering and health-related fields.
If you, or someone you know, can assist with either opportunity, please contact Trish Menadue
Your Feedback Requested - Discussion on Quaker Testimonies
On Wednesday 12 August (Week 3, Term 3), our Quaker Gathering Advisor, Jess Dundas, and Quaker Advisor, Mark Macleod, will lead a discussion and share information about the Quaker testimonies: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Earthcare and Equality (sometimes simplified to “SPICEE”).
As part of the session, we would like to focus on one particular testimony and explore how it is expressed in daily life at Friends’ and in the wider world.
If you have a question, suggestion, or would like to learn more about a specific testimony, please complete this simple Google Feedback Form by Friday 26 June. Your feedback and interests will help shape the discussion in August.
Quaker Meetings for Worship
All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.
Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.
If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please email the Clerk, Margaret Bywater, rmtasclerk@quakersaustralia.info
Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship
Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.40am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Middle School Office on Boa Vista Road.
Community Yoga – Returning in Term 4
Please note that Community Yoga will pause over the winter period and will return in Term 4. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the mat later in the year.
