Grade 5/6

It has been a busy and engaging start to the term. On Monday, our class visited the Castlemaine Library, where we enjoyed some quiet reading time and students had the opportunity to select and borrow new books.

Our reading of The Last Bear continues to inspire us as we follow April’s courageous adventures. We are drawing meaningful connections between her values and our Religious Education studies on Catholic Social Teaching. In the novel, April exemplifies ‘Care for Creation’ through her devoted efforts to protect the bear’s habitat and her passionate advocacy for its wellbeing, reminding us of our own responsibility to cherish and protect the natural world. 

In Mathematics this week, we continued our measurement unit by focusing on mass. Students explored equivalent measurements and unit conversions, practicing how to apply these skills in everyday, real-world situations.

In our Inquiry unit, we identified the key qualities of engineers and applied these by designing and building paper planes to achieve maximum flight distance, carefully considering the variables involved. 

We are eagerly anticipating several upcoming highlights, including our class assembly, Science Week, and Book Week, among others.
