9 Square in the Air (By Alexis W)
9 Square in the Air is a game we have introduced, it is used by the grade 5/6’s and eventually will be used by other grades. The aim of the game is to get to the king square. It is located at the upper yard and is set up in the morning at first break and packed up at the end of the day. This game is played at break and played with teachers permission.
How to play:
In the game the king will start with the ball then they will hit it to someone else in another square. The rally will continue until someone goes out if they hit it twice, don’t get over the bar, hit the ball out of the squares, go out or hit the ground in your square.
Rules:
Try to avoid hitting the ball out of the court/squares.
Don’t let the ball bounce in your square.
Don't touch the ball twice unless you are king and are starting.
If you go out, go to the back of the line or first square if there is no line.
This game is proving to be a popular addition to our options at break times!
Sports Bins
New equipment has arrived for our sports bins!
This includes new footballs, netballs, basketballs, soccer balls and bouncy volleyball to play with at break times.
Bendigo Fun Run
St Monica’s Run Club was well represented at the recent Bendigo Fun Run with many students choosing to take part in the 1 km or 5km events. Congratulations to all of these students!
Division Swimming Carnival
We had two students compete in the Division Swimming Carnival on Monday 1st March at the Bendigo East Swimming Pool. Graciella L and Ava H both achieved podium results with Ava second in the 10 Girls Butterfly and Graciella third in the 11 Girls Breaststroke. Well done girls, we are all super proud of your efforts!
Run Club
Students and parents are invited to take part in out weekly run club.
Walk/run as many laps of the school oval as you can from 8.10 - 8.30am every Friday morning. It's not a race, you set your own pace. Challenge yourself to better your lap count each week. Proudly wear your run club achievement badge for the day and encourage your friends to come along.
Just sign in at the gate on arrival and participate to the best of your ability.
New runners welcome. See Mr Epps if you have any questions.
