Hooray for Book Week 2026!

Excitement is building in St Cecilia’s classrooms as the final preparations for Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories are made.
The shortlisted books are ready to be read, mystery readers and a guest author have been booked, and staff are delighted to begin a wonderful week celebrating reading, characters, books and authors with your children.
Our annual, much loved BOOK WEEK Parade will be held next Friday, August 28th, at 9am in the Hall. This parade will run for about 30 mins. All family members are most welcome to attend. On this Friday, your children are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character for the day. If your child does not like dressing up, they may bring a favourite book from home to carry in the parade.
In addition to exploring the shortlisted books in our classrooms, we will be hosting a guest author, Lian Tanner, on Monday 31st August. Lian will be speaking to our whole school community during her visit to talk about both her picture story books with our juniors and her novels for children with our senior students.
If your family would like to purchase a copy of Lian’s books, you can do so online by clicking on the link on her flyer below and following the instructions on the form. Purchased books will be delivered to our school freight free if you click on our school name in the Pick up section at Checkout and Pay.
Parents can continue to place orders for Lian’s books for several days after her school visit.
Any purchases made will allow our school to accrue points towards aquiring some of Lian’s books for our school library.
Thank you for your support of our Book Week celebrations, and promoting a love of reading throughout our school community. It’s going to be a fantastic Symphony of Stories!
