Opus 4
Congratulations to all our musicians on their outstanding performances at Opus 4 last Thursday evening. The concert showcased the talents of our choral, string and band ensembles, and it was wonderful to enjoy a lively performance from our Irish Dancers, featuring Kylan Devlin (Year 9) and Harlo Devlin (Year 4).
A special thank you to Angelo Lu (Year 8) for accompanying the dancers on guitar, and to Do Hee Lee (Year 11) and Lillian Child (Year 10) for their assistance backstage in supporting our young performers.
We would also like to acknowledge the many staff members and volunteers who contributed to the success of the evening. Thank you to our Junior Ensemble Leaders for their excellent compering and to Haiden Kim (Year 6) for creating an entertaining video presentation for the event

Congratulations to Sophia Buchanan (Class of 2021)
Congratulations to Sophia Buchanan (Class of 2021) on her outstanding achievement of graduating from the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's Emerging Musicians Program for 2026. We are incredibly proud of Sophia's continued growth and success and look forward to watching her musical journey flourish in the years ahead.
We are especially excited to welcome her back to the stage at our annual Speech Night on 17 November. Sophia's ongoing connection with our school is a wonderful reflection of the strong sense of community that extends well beyond graduation. It is always heartening to see our alumni return year after year, sharing their talents and inspiring the next generation of students through their achievements and dedication.
Private Music Tuition Billing
Fees for Private Music Tuition for Term 3 will be charged to each student’s billing account in the Term 4 invoice.
Should parents decide to withdraw their child from Private Tuition, it’s imperative that the Music Department is informed. Failing to cancel lessons in a timely manner will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 2 weeks of lessons. To avoid this, please ensure you send a withdrawal notification via email to music@clayfield.qld.edu.au by the end of Term 3.

Musicianship Club - Years 1 and 2
Mondays from 3:15pm to 4:00pm | Primary Music Classroom
It was a delight to feature our Musicianship Club students at the Opus 4 Concert last Thursday and to showcase the wonderful learning taking place under the guidance of Mrs Angelique Both.
Students have now completed their final lesson for the term. Over the course of the program, they enjoyed learning a variety of songs and musical activities, including Lucy Locket using solfa and hand signs, A Mexican Woodpecker with its clapping pattern, the Apple Tree singing game, and Bounce High, Bounce Low, which was also explored on the glockenspiels.
It has been wonderful to see the students grow in confidence, develop their musical skills, and engage so enthusiastically in music-making throughout the term.
Musicianship Club will return in Term 4, running from Week 2 to Week 8. Families wishing to enrol are welcome to do so using the link below.
Senior Music Dinner
Tickets are now available for this year’s Secondary Music Dinner, to be held on Friday 16 October at Nudgee Golf Club, 1207 Nudgee Road. The theme for this year’s event is “Footloose Formal”, and we are excited to see the creative interpretations of the theme from our students.
Open to music students in Years 7 to 12, this special evening provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, dedication and contributions of our Senior Music community. We look forward to gathering with our talented musicians for what promises to be a memorable and enjoyable night. Parents are welcome to join us for the evening.

Year 9 and 10 Drama
Our Year 9 and 10 Drama students have been working with Backbone Youth Arts and acclaimed theatre-maker, Indiah Morris in the lead up to the upcoming LUX Arts Festival. Indiah is an award winning performer, director and physical theatre practitioner who is also the Artistic Director of Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and works extensively with young performers across Queensland.
Through a series of workshops, students have explored ensemble performance, storytelling and contemporary theatre-making as they developed their own interpretation of Icarus: The Myth. We look forward to seeing their creativity, collaboration and performance skills showcased as part of this year's LUX Arts Festival.
