Kitchen garden in 2026

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program is built on beliefs about pleasurable food education, through hands-on gardening and kitchen activities. It aims to support an appreciation for fresh, seasonal flavours, develop understanding of the natural world, and build connections with others. The program teaches essential life skills, boosts self-esteem, encourages teamwork, and promotes respect for the earth. It also connects to various learning areas, including environmental science, art, literacy, cultural diversity, and sustainability, while strengthening school community ties. 

In term one, students have been working on developing plans for designing the space, as well as reaching out to community resources to connect. 

Throughout the rest of the year, students will have opportunities to work in the garden, practise skills in the kitchen, and work on projects together to continue to improve the space. Keep an eye out for ways that you can be involved soon!
