Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge 2026 is now open and Moonee Ponds West PS is excited to be taking part!

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 and aims to help young readers develop a lifelong love of reading. 

It is not a competition; it is a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 4th September 2026.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

Since it began in 2005, more than 4.5 million young readers have taken part and together read more than 63 million books!

While The Challenge is optional, we are looking for maximum participation from our students in 2026!

Each child will be given their own username and password to login and start their Challenge Journey

Challenge Coordinators

Year 6-7  Transition

Secondary schools are currently conducting tours. We will include any open day information from schools in this section. 

The time line for secondary school transition for 2026 is:

• Year 6-7 Placement applications open - Wednesday 22nd April
• Year 7 placement applications are to be returned to school by Friday 8th of May
• Placement notification to families - Wednesday 24th June
• Appeals to secondary schools by Friday 17th July

Foundation Enrolment 2027

We are currently conducting enrolment tours for 2027 Foundation (prep) enrolments.

Tour dates are available on our website or contact our office.

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.

Please collect your sibling enrolment pack from the 20th of April.
