School Council President Message

Hello CHPS families

My name is Mary-Helen McIlroy.  I am a new member of the CHPS community this year and I am very pleased to be taking on the role of School Council President.

The School Council met on Wednesday night and I wanted to share with you some of the discussion from the meeting.

Firstly, the School Colour Run was a great success and raised approx. $26,000 for our school which we will be able to use to improve some facilities and undertake necessary maintenance. From the photos it looked like the kids had an extremely fun day. Thank you for your contributions and special thanks to the CHPS teachers for making the day successful, including those teachers willing to be slimed! A number of children have donated their prizes to Djirra, which is fantastic to see.

Secondly, as many families would be aware, CHPS asks parents to contribute towards curriculum items each year and the nurse, grounds, building and first aid funds.  This year we still have a way to go to reach our target. If you are in a position to do so, could you make your contribution as soon as possible. Any contribution, even if not the full amount, will help us to maintain as many of the fantastic resources and programs as possible.

Thirdly, the first parent fundraiser of the year -  the CHPS Comedy night featuring Peter Helliar, Bron Lewis and Lehmo - is coming up on Friday 16 May in the multi-purpose room.  I've heard this is an incredibly fun night and it sells out so make sure to get your tickets.

Lastly, the School Council is looking for your feedback on future projects to put our fundraising efforts towards, particularly in relation to funds raised through the school fair. We've already received some suggestions around a permanent shade/cover for the basketball court and further restoration of heritage windows but we're keen to hear from as many people as possible. Please get in touch me or any of the other council members with your ideas  Mary-Helen.McIlroy@education.vic.gov.au.

Looking forward to getting to know more of the CHPS community across 2025 and thank you to all those who helped out at the democracy sausage sizzle and bake sale on the weekend.
