FOUNDATION BALLAGH FARM VISIT
Foundation students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to Oscar’s farm and Brandt Machinery, where they experienced hands-on learning about farming, technology and machinery.
At the farm, students explored the milking shed and watched Oscar milk some cows. They learnt about the technology used to care for and manage the cows, patted the calves and watched them being fed. Students also discovered why leaves are green and investigated plant health using a chlorophyll reader and a microscope. They enjoyed completing leaf rubbings and running around in the paddock before heading off on the bus to Brandt.
At Brandt, students had the opportunity to sit in a buggy, a digger and a tractor, and they also toured the workshop to see some of the impressive machinery up close.
A big thank you to Amy and Rowdy for welcoming us to their farm; Amy, Krishia and the Agri-tech Education team at CQUniversity for running the day; and Krishia and the team at Brandt for giving us a tour of their facilities.
GRADE 4 RETREAT DAY
Students from St Laurence and St Joseph’s come together for a reflective and joy‑filled Eucharist Retreat at Mary MacKillop College today. Guided by staff and supported by the welcoming MMCRC students, they explored the meaning of the Eucharist through prayer, storytelling, hands‑on activities, and small‑group discussions.
