In preparation for our Confirmation, the Yr 6 students researched a saint that inspired them and they would take this name as their saint name during Confirmation. We had to complete a saint project about the saint we chose, our research was presented on a poster and had the life story of that saint, why we chose them and what gifts of the Holy Spirit they showed in their life. All our posters are displayed in the 5/6 corridors for everyone to see.
The day before our Confirmation, all the Yr 6’s joined together for a Confirmation reflection day. We all got to wear casual clothes and as a special treat we shared a fish and chips lunch together. Throughout the day we did a range of activities about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and a Confirmation reflection about our sponsor. The Year 6s began the day with a year level mass then we did an activity based on the gifts of the holy spirit. We then had some time to reflect and think to ourselves and about what confirmation really is about and what it means to us. The Year 6s thought about why we have chosen to be confirmed and why we have chosen our sponsors. We also made special confirmation candles that would be used in the ceremony.
We were very lucky to meet Bishop Tomlinson on the day, who came to talk to us and who will be confirming all our candidates. We ended the day with a delicious fish and chips lunch. We all learned so much and had a wonderful experience reflecting and learning togethe.
Our Confirmation night was a very special night for all our candidates. The candidates read beautifully. A huge thank you to our teachers for preparing us so well. A special thanks to Father John and Bishop Tomlinson for guiding us with wisdom and faith and confirming us with the Holy Spirit. Thank you to our sponsors and families who have supported us throughout this journey.
Our confirmation night was one to remember and we are forever grateful to everyone who made it so meaningful!
