Thank you, Scoresby Primary School
It has been a joy and a privilege working at this lovely school all these years. I have been working here at Scoresby Primary School for the last 8 years, starting in January 2019. I took this position after a term of being the Acting Principal of SPS, term 1 of 2019.
Right from the start it has been a happy place to work. The students have always been kind and respectful and I think it has a lot to do with the school values. All schools have values, but at Scoresby PS every child knows the HEART values, they are taught the HEART values, and they can tell you what the HEART values mean. Not a day goes by when I don’t hear about the HEART values. I think the Scoresby PS HEART values set our students off with the pre-conditions to become good citizens in our world.
We have done a lot of work at Scoresby PS over my time here. All decisions made at SPS have the children front and centre. As a principal you do not do this work alone. The staff at SPS are a fantastic group of people to work with. They are always willing to learn and do better for their students.
Much has changed in and out of the classrooms over the past 8 years. We have had some fabulous celebrations and moved with the changes in Education as they have come along.
Introduced Compass management System
We have added programs – Robotics, Cultural Studies, ACES Program
Changed the Literacy Approach introducing phonics (Write to Read codes)
Altered our timetable getting more time teaching time in the mornings
Added Rainbow Maths to ensure all children have the basics of mathematics
Introduced Breakfast Club
Celebrated 150 Years – 1872-2022
New School Logo, new uniform and created a new “E - value” from Empathy to Excellence
Gardening projects - 150th Entrance, new sand pit, front garden beds re-planted (HEART garden coming)
Moved Library to BER
Collaborative Spaces created for teachers & classes to work together
New windows and front door / Paint and Carpeted classrooms the LHS of the main building
New signage - new sign in foyer, outside pencils, stair way signs
Scoresby PS is humming along very well and recognised by our network leader as a high functioning school in our area. Our NAPLAN results in 2026 in Numeracy and Writing are some of the top results in the Knox Network. We are very proud and pleased with this achievement. As a principal you hold the position for a period of time in a school. You are always replaceable, but hopefully you leave a mark of improvement that moves the school forward for the next custodian.
It has been lovely to work with so many students and families in my 8 years at Scoresby PS. I leave with fond memories and a full heart. Thank you for your support, care and kindness and I wish all the Scoresby Superstars and SPS families a bright, successful and happy future.
Term 4 will see Mrs Rheumer take on the Acting Principal of Scoresby Primary School position full time. Nic has a wealth of experience and has been part of the leadership team at SPS for the past 7 years. The position will be officially advertised later in the term.
2026 PRODUCTION ~ ARTIFACTS
What a fabulous event we had last week. Artifacts was a BIG success.
Thank you to our Performing Arts teacher Jarren Boyd, for creating the play, rehearsing the speaking roles and overseeing the organisation for our 2026 production Artifacts.
Thanks also to our wonderful staff for working collaboratively, creating and rehearsing the dances and making the show come to life. It’s fabulous to have so many confident students who can speak to audiences, perform on stage and join in the fun and learning that comes with a school production. We hope you all enjoyed the show.
USB copies of the production can be purchased as a memento for $30. Forms were sent home on how to order on Tuesday. USBs will be available for the school office after term 4 break.
After the Bell – Change of Hours
From the beginning of Term 4, After the Bell OSHC will no longer offer after school care on Thursdays and Fridays due to low attendance numbers. The service will continue to operate on the remaining weekdays as usual.
Smoke-Free School Grounds Reminder
A friendly reminder to all members of our school community that Scoresby Primary School is a smoke-free and vape-free environment. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on school grounds, and Victorian legislation also prohibits smoking within 4 metres of any school entrance or gate.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students, families and staff.
Father's Day Breakfast Club Celebration
Our (belated) Father's Day Breakfast Club on Wednesday was a great success. It was wonderful to see so many fathers, grandfathers and special friends attend and spend quality time with the children before school.
A big thank you to Tina and Jenny for organising the decorations and preparing the toasties. Your efforts helped make the morning such a special occasion for our school community.
