Around the Classrooms

Grade 1/2G

Grade 1/2G have recently participated in a number of activities that have been a change from their usual curriculum and these have involved a lot of fun, laughter and hard work!

Visit from Author and Illustrator: Sarah Allen

Sarah was very friendly and worked with the Year 1/2 students to draw the birds that are featured in her books. She did this step by step and it was easy for the classes to follow her instructions and the result was a colourful image of a bird. The students were very excited when Sarah signed copies of any of her books that they had brought along on the day.

On Friday 28th August students dressed up as their favourite Book Week character and participated in a parade to celebrate the day!

The Art Show

The students have been preparing art for weeks both in their art classes and during general classroom sessions. The three pieces that they created in the classroom were: Apples using oil pastels, self portraits with an attached balloon to portray them blowing bubble gum and the year level display of fish based on the text: The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. The atmosphere of the night was fantastic and many 1/2G students attended with their families, proudly sharing their artwork and creativity.

Thanks very much to the generous parent volunteers who rode the bus with us and assisted with bathing caps and crowd control over the past two weeks. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated! The students increased their confidence in the pool and last Wednesday completed their water assessment. Last Thursday they participated in water safety activities where they were asked to wear extra clothing over their bathers and were placed in real life situations where they were taught survival skills.

Assembly Item

Tomorrow our class will be performing: This Little Light of Mine at the Assembly!

The students have been working hard on their singing skills and have added specific choreography to the dance. They are really looking forward to showing off their dance moves so please come and see 1/2G perform tomorrow. The Assembly begins at 9.00 a.m in the school hall.
