Art Show

What a magnificent artistic display at our recent Art Show! 🎨✨

“Light,” the theme of this year’s show, was beautifully showcased throughout the school hall and library and officially opened on the first night by the Mayor of Darebin, Cr Emily Dimitriadis. Mayor Dimitriadis highlighted the importance of art in our world, the joy that it brings and how vital it is to support the arts.

Please see an excerpt of her speech below........

"It is an incredible honour to join you all to officially open the St Joseph the Worker Biennial Visual Art Show! And looking around this space today, I am so impressed by the energy, colour and imagination on display. What a talented bunch you are!

Art plays such an important part in our lives from a young age. As a mum of two young children, I can see art provides an outlet for them to express themselves. Whether it’s finger painting, creating collages or 2 making playdough figures, it is wonderful to see the joy it brings as they find their voice.

It is wonderful to see that art and imagination continues to be embraced and nurtured here at St Joseph the Worker.

And what makes this biennial exhibition so special is how it showcases the rich, dynamic learning happening right across your school. This is not just a celebration of painting, drawing and visual arts today; we are also celebrating the performing arts, the curiosity nurtured in your library spaces, and the rich cultural connections fostered through your Italian LOTE program. Every sculpture, painting, and performance here tells a story."........

Over the two days, our students proudly shared their wonderful artworks with parents, families and the wider school community. It was fantastic to see their creativity, talent and hard work celebrated by so many.

A very big thank you to our wonderful Art teacher, Maryanne Fenech-Gatt, for her incredible hard work, dedication and preparation in bringing this spectacular exhibition to life.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our hardworking staff, who assisted in so many ways leading up to and throughout the show. And thank you to wonderful parent helpers, Marelia and Christine, who gave up several afternoons to assist with mounting artwork.

Congratulations to all our talented students on a truly magnificent Art Show! 🌟🎨
