Principal's Report

Dear families,
It has been a quick fire start to the Term as we close Week Four already. I was delighted to see so many mothers and female figures attending our Mother’s Day breakfast last Friday. These events bring together our community and develop a true sense of belonging as to what it is to be a St Brigid’s College contributor.
Once again, St Brigid’s has been performing exceptionally well in interschool sport and academic pursuits. On top of our Year 10s winning the Wimmera Science Challenge recently, yesterday our Senior Netball Team beat all other Horsham schools in the Black Ranges interschool competition and will go through to regional level. Our sporting prowess shines brightly for a small school.
Recently, I have been approached by a member of the Parish who is interested in offering catechism classes and / or starting a Church choir here at St Brigid’s. This could be another way that we could promote our college value of ‘Service’ and to build our Catholic Identity. Please let me know if you would like more details or if you are interested in joining.
On May 25 I look forward to joining the Year 11s on the Melbourne Street Retreat for three days, while also in that week the Year 10s are on Work Experience. The reputation of our school in providing quality education and opportunities is growing as we have had strong interest in Year 7 enrolments for 2027 and we are nearing capacity at that level. Thank you to all of our students, families and staff who promote our College with pride.
Please note the due to Department of Ed school closures, that the public Country Buses will NOT be running on 5th June, however our school will be open and our school owned buses will be running.
We are finalising student options for Semester 2 and there have been some staffing changes. I would like to thank Ms Susie Penny for her services in this term as Susie has decided to step back from teaching for a while starting next week and we are fortunate to have Catherine Huisman pick up Susie’s classes for the remainder of the term.
Stay safe,
Gerard Raven
