Group 5

Exploring Stories, Characters, and Creativity
Over the last few weeks, Group 5 have had a wonderful time exploring the theme “Books and Characters” in our classroom. We especially loved reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the “Spot the dog” books, and The Rainbow Fish. During our literacy sessions, we completed a variety of writing activities by using pictures and images to help us complete sentences. For example, after reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we answered the questions “I am hungry for…” by selecting images from the book that we would want to eat! Many students were hungry for the slice of pie, apple and muffin.
We also worked on our fine motor skills through tracing, cutting, colouring, and gluing activities connected to the books. The students created different crafts for each story, including colourful fish, caterpillars, and Spot-themed activities.
In addition to reading new stories each week, Group 5 has been learning about the alphabet. We explore a new letter each week, by listening to songs, reading stories, and gathering images of different items that start with our letter sound. These hands-on experiences helped bring the stories to life and made learning fun, engaging, and creative for each of us!
