Ms Brea Terris

Dear Families,
Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful teachers at Swan Hill North Primary School.
We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring team who go above and beyond each day to support our students.
Our teachers do so much more than teach. They encourage, inspire, celebrate achievements, build confidence and help our students grow into the best versions of themselves.
This year has certainly brought some additional challenges with our building works and changes to our school environment.
Throughout it all, our teachers have continued to provide wonderful learning opportunities while ensuring our students feel safe, supported and happy at school.
I am incredibly proud of our teaching team and the difference they make to our students and school community every day.
Happy World Teachers’ Day to all our amazing teachers at North! Thank you for everything you do. We really do appreciate you!
Staffing
I would like to congratulate Karla Holt who has been appointed to a position at Nyah District PS for 2027.
This is an amazing opportunity for Karla, and I know she will do so well in her new role.
It is always bittersweet when we see wonderful staff move on to new opportunities, but I am so pleased that Karla has the chance to take this next step in her leadership journey.
I would also like to congratulate Carla Cox who has obtained a position at Swan Hill PS in 2027. This is a wonderful opportunity for Carla, and I am sure you will all join me in congratulating her on this new role.
We are currently working through our staffing and class arrangements for 2027. More information will be shared with families before the end of the year.
If you have any requests or information, you would like us to consider when planning for your child's class placement in 2027, please email the school directly.
While we cannot guarantee that all requests can be accommodated, we will carefully consider the information provided as part of our planning.
Building Works
Next Thursday and Friday, concrete will be installed between our new administration building and the BER. This is an important step towards being able to move into our new building!
During these two days, our usual Murlong Street gate will be closed.
Families and students will need to use the gate further down Murlong Street, closest to the oval.
- Junior students will enter the school at the end of the BER.
Years 3/4 and 5/6 students will enter through the BER and walk through the building, exiting through the door on the other side to access their classrooms.
Unfortunately, these works cannot be completed over the weekend, so the temporary change will be in place on Thursday and Friday.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we get closer to completing our new school buildings.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.
Bike Safety
We would like to remind all families and students about the importance of bike and scooter safety when travelling to and from school.
It is wonderful to see students riding their bikes and scooters to school, and we want to make sure everyone arrives and gets home safely.
A few important reminders:
- Helmets: All students must wear an approved, correctly fitted helmet when riding a bike or scooter.
- Road safety: Please remind children to stop, look and listen before crossing roads and to use designated crossings where available.
- Walking bikes and scooters: Students are reminded to walk their bikes and scooters once they enter the school grounds and around the entrance.
- Being aware of others: Please encourage children to be mindful of pedestrians, vehicles and other riders.
With the changes to our school grounds and access points due to the building works, it is especially important that students take extra care when arriving at and leaving school.
Thank you to all our families for helping us keep our students safe!
Hats
Please ensure your child has their school hat at school ready to wear during outdoor activities and break times. If your child needs a new hat, these can be purchased from the school office.
level. It is a fantastic accomplishment, and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
Well done, Jett, Jimmie and Tyler!
2027 Enrolments
If you know of any families who are considering enrolling their child at Swan Hill North Primary School, please encourage them to contact the school office to arrange a tour. We would love the opportunity to show them around and share everything our school has to offer.
School Uniform
A friendly reminder that all students are expected to wear the full school uniform each day. This includes wearing black shorts, pants, skirts or skorts as part of our uniform. Blue bottoms are not part of the approved school uniform.
We appreciate your support in ensuring students come to school in the correct uniform each day.
Duty of Care
Families are reminded that teachers are on duty before school from 8.30am-8.50am and after school from 3.20pm until 3.30pm. Children should not be unattended in the school grounds before or after these times. Thank you for your support and co-operation with this.
A reminder to families that Tuesday 3 November is the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday, and there will be no school on this day.
If your child will be absent on Monday, we would appreciate it if you could please record their absence on Compass in advance, where possible.
Thank you for your support, and have a lovely weeken
Kind Regards
Brea
