šŸ‘šŸŒ± A Fantastic Day at Wirrate!Ā šŸŒ±šŸ‘

Our Year 9, 11 and 12 Agriculture students were fortunate to spend the day at Melrose Park Merino Stud in Wirrate with Charlie Heale, gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into modern sheep production.

Ā

The morning was dedicated to planting native vegetation as part of a natural capital program aimed at enhancing biodiversity across the farm. It was a great opportunity for students to see firsthand how environmental stewardship and productive agriculture work hand in hand.

After working up an appetite, Charlie and Leah treated us to a delicious lunch of home-grown roast lamb rolls – a true paddock-to-plate experience!

Ā

In the afternoon, students headed to the shearing shed to learn more about wool production, sustainability and the global wool industry. It was fascinating to discover how the decisions made on Australian farms can influence supply chains all the way through to fashion houses in Europe.

Ā

Of course, some of the biggest highlights of the day included plenty of laughs while navigating the muddy paddocks and spending time cuddling the ever-friendly kelpies!Ā šŸ•ā¤ļø

A huge thank you to Charlie and Leah for once again hosting our students and sharing their knowledge, passion and hospitality. It was another memorable day of learning beyond the classroom. #AgricultureEducation #LearningByDoing #NaturalCapital #AustralianWool #FutureFarmers #PaddockToPlateĀ šŸŒ¾šŸ‘šŸŒæ
