Fire Education in Prep
The Preps were very excited to be visited by four Fire Officers last week from Glen Iris Fire Brigade for a Fire Education Experience. Over their next two visits they will learn through hands on practice how stay safe in a fire. Messages of get down low and go, go go and stop drop and roll will be practiced and reinforced in the sessions.
Grandparents Day
We are super excited about hosting Grandparents and Special Friends day at St Roch's on next Wednesday 29th of July from 9.00 - 10.45am. This is a special morning and one the whole community embraces. We thank the P & F for all of their amazing ideas and support and especially Bree Lynch who is working very hard behind the scenes to make this morning memorable.
Don't forget to send you favourite Grandparent or Special friends photo to the office by Friday 24 July to be included in the slide show presentation at morning tea.
We have arranged a Book Fair to be available with books supplied from Jeffreys Book Store, Malvern. Grandparents are very welcome to purchase a book from the book fair for their grandchild and donate this to the school Library. A bookplate acknowledging each grandparents name and donation will be inserted into each book.

Enrolments for the ICAS Assessments have now closed. Students in Year 2 - Year 6 will complete English, Mathematics, Science and Digital Technologies assessments and students in Year 3 - Year 6 will complete ICAS Writing.
Teeth on Wheels
We were very pleased to have Teeth On Wheels visit our school today Monday 20th July 2026. Many students took up this opportunity to visit the dentist. Teeth on Wheels will be back in six months time for follow up appointments and will be available to see other students.
Early dental visits are crucial for your child’s long-term oral health. At this visit, Teeth On Wheels helped to identify and address common dental concerns, such as:
Thumb-sucking– which can affect tooth development.
Teeth eruption– ensuring teeth are coming through correctly.
Bite issues– preventing misalignments that may cause future problems.
Hypoplasia– weakened tooth enamel that can lead to decay.
Decay and cavities – catching early signs before they develop into bigger issues.
Deep grooves and pits– which can trap food and bacteria, increasing the risk of decay.
Gum infections– preventing long-term damage to gums and surrounding tissue.
Gardening Club
Gardening Club is an important component of our Wellbeing Program. Mrs Meseha provides time and space for students to come together in a purposeful and fun way to connect with nature and each other. Last week there was a tiny caterpillar to observe. Mrs Meseha has a true gift for setting up engaging activities involving mud, creativity and care for nature.
Gardening Club is held every Wednesday at 1.50pm and is open to all students from Prep - Year 6. We love watching our veggies grow!
