JUNIOR SCHOOL UPDATE

What a busy term for our junior school students. With assessments being finalised and students now undertaking our summer program till the end of the school year, I would like to thank all our students for their hard work and dedication to their studies throughout the school.

Term four has been another busy one. Our junior school captains represented our school in the City of Dandenong Secondary School Transition Forum at the Springvale Town Hall. Grade 6 students from local primary school were invited to attend, where they met with students from the local secondary schools. Dominique Perumal and Shanmukhi Ponnam did a great job participating in workshops, questions sessions and team building activities with a bunch of grade 6’s that will be attending our school next year.

Speaking of our captains, what a fantastic job Dominique and Shanmukhi have done in representing the junior school in both school and community forums. They have been a dependable source of leadership for staff and their peers and always carried out their roles with class and enthusiasm. Thank you, Dominique and Shanmukhi.

I welcome and congratulate our newly elected junior school captains for 2026; Steve Robin and Merin Beljo. I look forward to working with them next year.

We have recently had our school presentation night where it was great to see so many junior school students recognised for their efforts and achievements throughout the semester and the year. A special congratulations to our Dux students for this year. Year 7- Kaelyn Paix, Year 8- Ashmitha John and Year 9- Shanmukhi Ponnam.

This was followed by our junior school celebration assemblies where we acknowledged students who had achieved academic success throughout the semester, along with outstanding effort, 100% attendance and our community spirit awards. Well done to all students who received an award.

On Tuesday December 9th, we welcomed our new year 7 students for 2026. They followed a typical Lyndale Secondary College timetable and got to meet their new classmates. Thank you to the students who volunteered their time to help with our new year 7 classes throughout Orientation Day.

As of next year, our year 9 students will be part of the senior school. We hope that your time in the junior school has ground you in good study habits, helped you to understand your strengths and weaknesses and helped build the road to a successful pathway into your senior school years.

I would thank all the staff that have worked in the junior school this year. Thank you to Year 7 co-ordinators- Ms Hawkes and Ms Tusan, Year 8 Co-ordinators- Ms Maxwell and Mr Neilsen and Year 9 Co-ordinators- Ms. Huynh and Ms Lanz. Thank you for your tireless work and care for all of our students. Thanks to Mr Hua for all his work in monitoring our attendance and to Mrs. Kennedy for her leadership.

I wish all our students a wonderful summer break, with a chance to refresh and renew and look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year. The first day for students is Thursday 29th January.
