Principal's Report

Dear families and friends of MPW
I hope you all had a great long weekend. In the last newsletter, I missed introducing Max Abbott. Max joined our Administration Team in the receptionist position last fortnight. It is likely that Max will be the face you first see in the office or on the phone.
Congratulations to Estelle, Susan, Flynn and Lachlan who represented MPW at Division Cross Country. All the best to Estelle who came 7th in her age group and now heads to Regional finals on Monday.
End of Term Reminders and Events coming up
As we close to the end of the term, only 3 weeks to go, there are a couple of quick end of term reminders:
- Monday 22nd June we acknowledge Winter Solstice (which falls on Sunday 21st), where JSC typically organise a pyjama day to recognise the shortest day and longest night. Winters Solstice is where the Southern Hemisphere is tilted furthest from the sun. In Melbourne, on the day we will only have 9.5 hours of daylight.
- The last week of term is planning week. Teams will be planning for term 3 and students typically rotate through our Specialists on this day.
- Monday 22nd- 5/6s
- Tuesday 23rd- 1/2s
- Wednesday 24th- 3/4s
- Thursday 25th- Foundation
- Friday 26th- Specialists
- Wednesday 24th June we hold the MVIMP Soiree at 6:30pm
Finally, a reminder that the last day of term is on Friday 26th June. We have assembly on the Friday in the morning 9:05am and student dismissal time is 2.30pm.
2027 Foundation Enrolments
Applications for Foundation enrolments for 2026 are closing next month on 25th July.
For families at MPW that will be having siblings join the school in 2027, please ensure that you collect your enrolment form at the office.
You can find information and resources about the new timeline, including factsheets, at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
Reporting
Teachers are currently finalising their standardised assessments of students to support the Semester 1 Reporting obligations. The formal semester report will be published on Compass on Friday 19th June. This report will give families the opportunity to see their child(ren)’s progress against the Victorian Curriculum, Progress Report (behaviour and effort data for term 1 and 2) and your child’s attendance for the first half of the year.
Early in Term 3, we hold our 3-way conference meetings where students, parents and teachers can discuss the semester report and students’ achievement in the first half of the year. We are currently looking into arrangements for these meetings and will send out confirmation once details are finalised.
Enjoy the last couple of weeks as we hit the halfway point of 2026.
Regards,
Jarrod Sutton
Principal
