Dear Parents & Carers,

Crowning Our Lady

Last week, many of you who attended our Crowning of Our Lady prayer service would have been moved by the solemnity, reverence and beauty of the occasion. The traditional nature of the assembly conveyed so powerfully to our children the importance of Our Blessed Mother within our Catholic faith tradition.

Congratulations to the SRC children and Mr Criniti for leading the school community in such a prayerful and dignified celebration. A special thank you also to Mrs Aboumelhem and Mrs Cantarella for creating the beautiful crown and veil for our statue of Our Lady.

Mary Help Of Christians Mass

On Monday, I accompanied Mr Criniti, Mrs Bucciarelli and a group of selected Year 6 students to St Mary’s Cathedral to join students and staff from the 116 primary schools across the Archdiocese in celebrating the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Anthony Percy alongside our very own Fr Richard.

Our school motto, Serviam – I will serve, was truly lived out at the Cathedral. Approximately twenty minutes before Mass commenced, Sydney Catholic Schools approached me to ask whether one of our students would be willing to read the Prayers of the Faithful after another school had withdrawn at short notice.

Without hesitation, our Wellbeing Captain, Sophia Tokatlidis, stepped forward and proclaimed the prayers with confidence, reverence and eloquence before a completely full St Mary’s Cathedral. This was Serviam in action. Congratulations to Sophia for her maturity, courage and generosity of spirit. We are incredibly proud of her.

This weekend and next, our First Communicants will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers as they take this important step in their faith journey.

Uniform

The children are looking exceptionally smart and continue to wear their uniform with pride. Thank you to all families for supporting the school in ensuring our students are dressed in the correct school uniform each day. Your support is greatly appreciated and contributes positively to the strong culture and standards of SFX.

Enrichment Programs

As you know, since 2024 we have continued to expand enrichment opportunities across the school. Most recently, selected Year 5 and 6 students travelled to Knox Grammar School to compete in the prestigious Da Vinci Decathlon competition.

A special thank you to Ms Tsokas, Mr Tropeano, Mrs Biskupic and Miss McMillan for preparing the students so thoroughly.

Congratulations to our Year 5 students Mia Ferreira, Olivia Quaratiello and Olivia Saliba, who achieved outstanding results, placing 4th and 5th respectively in their categories. This is an exceptional achievement, particularly given the strong representation from many independent schools across Sydney. Well done girls!

It was also wonderful to observe the significant number of former SFX students representing their respective high schools in the secondary division of the competition. It is pleasing to see the strong academic formation, confidence and character developed at SFX continuing to bear fruit long after our students leave our gates.

celebrate on Friday 24 July to coincide with the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Our Lord and the parents of Our Lady.

On this day we will also celebrate 100 Days of Kindy. A prayer assembly will be held in the main playground, followed by open classrooms and morning tea in the hall. We look forward to welcoming grandparents and special visitors into our school community for this joyful occasion.

Term Dates

School will conclude for Term 2 on Thursday 2 July, with students returning on Tuesday 21 July for the commencement of Term 3.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support of our school community.

Enjoy the weekend.
