We value the ongoing partnership we have with Consent Labs and were fortunate to welcome them back this week to continue delivering their curriculum-aligned consent and respectful relationships education programs.
The Consent Labs team are experts in consent and respectful relationships education and have reached more than 180,000 people across every Australian state and territory. Their evidence-based workshops help students build their knowledge and confidence in understanding consent, while developing practical skills they can apply in their everyday lives.
During this visit, our Year 11 students explored recognising and responding to sexual violence. The session covered affirmative consent, understanding what sexual violence is and the harm it causes, the drivers of sexual violence, who is most impacted, how to seek support, and the important role of active bystanders in creating safer communities.
We sincerely thank the Consent Labs team for delivering another highly engaging and valuable learning experience for our students, and for the important work they do to empower young people and their communities to create positive cultural change around consent and the prevention of sexual violence.
The Healthy Minds Program is committed to eliminating preventable psychological disorders by equipping young people with the skills to maintain strong mental health and wellbeing. Based on years of intensive research by award-winning Australian psychologist Dr Tom Nehmy, this preventative psychology program has become a valuable part of our wellbeing curriculum at Surf Coast Secondary College.
This year, our Year 8 students participated in the full Healthy Minds Program, with sessions delivered by psychologist Ronan Galloghly, supported by teacher-led classroom lessons and parent learning modules. Our Year 9 students also completed an intensive version of the program, while our Year 10 and Year 12 students received booster sessions, allowing us to reinforce key Healthy Minds concepts throughout their secondary school journey.
We're incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Healthy Minds team and the positive impact this evidence-based program continues to have on our students. Thank you for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our school community!

School Wellbeing Team
Welcome to the new school year! This is a great opportunity to introduce the Wellbeing Team and the support we offer. We’re here to help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn, whether that’s through a quick check-in, individual support, group programs, or whole-school wellbeing activities. We work closely with students, families, and staff, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s wellbeing.
A new exciting initiative for 2026 is our Wellbeing Self-Referral form. This provides students a private and easy way to let us know they’d like to check in, ask for help, or talk about something that’s on their mind. Support is confidential, and a member of the Wellbeing Team will follow up with the student after the form is submitted.
Students can access this form via Compass under ‘School Favourites’ (the star icon). or via this link - Wellbeing Self Referral Form
