Andy Griffiths Book Launch
On Tuesday this week, Years 3–6 were lucky enough to participate in the online launch of Andy Griffiths’ new book, You & Me and the Gigantic Knucklehead, presented through the State Library Victoria.
The students loved hearing about the books from Andy’s childhood that inspired him, as well as learning how he develops his ideas and brings them to life through his novels. There was plenty of laughter and enthusiasm throughout the session, which continued well into the rest of the day!
Following the launch, students were given the opportunity to create the title and front cover for their own novel. They used their imaginations to include a gigantic character of their choice and produced some wonderfully creative ideas.
We look forward to participating in another session with the State Library Victoria later in the term.
Mathematics
Today, Jan Walker (MACS Consultant) worked alongside two of our teachers as part of our Mathematics Acceleration Program. We continued our work in the Learning Walk space, focusing on promoting consistent, high-quality teaching practices across St Brigid's. During today's Learning Walk, we observed the I Do phase of a Mathematics lesson and provided staff with constructive feedback to support their ongoing professional learning and growth.
All staff at St Brigid's will continue to participate in Learning Walks throughout the term. We look forward to continuing this collaborative process as we strengthen our teaching practice.
With thanks
Cassie Dirckze (Maths and Science Leader) and Suzie Ripp (Literacy and Humanities Leader)
