Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brigid’s,

Foundation: 100 Days of School

Can you believe that our wonderful Foundation students have been at school for 100 days! Last Tuesday (21st July), our Foundation children came to school under the motto 100 Days Brighter, and they all looked amazing in their brighter than bright clothes.

They had a lovely day celebrating this milestone with fun activities, followed by a camping experience that included a disco and a celebratory cake enjoyed by mums, dads, and children alike!

Thank you to Lauren, Sigi, and Erin for all the organization involved and for making sure the children had the best 100 days of school!

Body Education Program with Kelly Nash - TICKETS SELLING FAST!

We encourage families to book early for Kelly's wonderful Body Education Program in August. The sessions will run on Wednesday August 12th & Thursday August 13th.

We are offering three sessions:

• F-2 - Wednesday August 12th 5:00pm to 6:00pm, 

• Year 3/4 - Wednesday August 12th 6:30pm to 7:30pm and

• Year 5/6 - Thursday 13th August 6:30pm to 7:30pm

   

 Price:      $25 per family for one session or      $35 per family for two or more sessions

Kelly's programs are offered  to support parents in helping their children learn about aspects of human sexuality and present a valuable opportunity to discuss a variety of subjects in a safe and supported environment. Kelly aims to create a relaxed, inclusive and fun environemnt that fosters informal, respectful learning.

Grandparents and Grandfriends Day

On Friday last week, we had the most anticipated day on the school calendar — Grandparents and Grandfriends Day! It is a day that everyone looks forward to, and our grandparents and grandfriends are always so happy to be part of the celebration. They enjoyed a beautiful liturgy celebrating the joy of being a grandparent followed by a quiz activity in the classroom and then created a beautiful display in the foyer "Memories in a Basket". They all enjoyed the time spent with their grandchildren! And to conclude the celebrations our grandfriends enjoyed each other's company over a cup of tea and cakes.

Many thanks to Jodie for making the morning such a wonderful experience. Thanks also to Tracey for organizing the food, and to the parents who stayed to set up morning tea — Claire, Giselle, Tom, John, Abraham, Margeaux and everyone else who lent a hand!

Confirmation

This Saturday, 31 Year 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Brigid’s Church. The Mass will be celebrated by Very Rev Andrzej Madry CR PP who is the Episcopal Vicar for the Southern Region of the Archdiocese of Melbourne. We ask that you keep Sarah, Jordan, Edward, Alfie Sienna, Eva, Torin, Jessica, Roisin, Casey, Kit, Che, Angus, Edith, Lachlan, Georgina, Rafael, Emerson, Briar, Patrick, PJ, Islah, Grace, Violet, Poppy, Matthew, Elodie, Kyle, Jye, Alek, Louis and Juliette and their families in your prayers.

NAPLAN

We were very proud to receive our school NAPLAN results, and we are thrilled to acknowledge the great achievements of our Year 3 and Year 5 students across all key disciplines. Our students performed exceptionally well, with results that reflect our sustained focus on explicit teaching, structured literacy, evidence-informed practice, and high expectations for all learners at St Brigid’s.

These results are a testament to the hard work of our students, the expertise and dedication of our staff, and the strong partnership we share with families in supporting student learning. We are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved.

Our data shows that most students in Year 3 are achieving at a Strong or Exceeding level across all learning areas. This means that, overall, Year 3 students are making very good progress and achieving positive learning outcomes. Similarly, most students in Year 5 are also achieving at Strong or Exceeding levels across all learning areas, demonstrating positive achievement and consistent progress.

Well done to all the students involved in NAPLAN this year — you have made us very proud!

🎉 The St Brigid’s Mini Fete is Coming! 🎉

Our students are beginning to plan an action-packed mini fete for the end of the term! 

They are learning what it takes to be little entrepreneurs by designing their own games, lucky dips, and fun stalls.

We need your help to bring their ideas to life! This week, we are collecting clean glass jars and fun goodies to create our famous "Mystery Bottles."

How you can help: Next week we are asking each child to bring in an clean glass jar with a lid filled with either:

• Treats: Wrapped bags of lollies (like Mentos or Twirls).

• Surprises: Packets of hair ties or small novelty toys.

   

Every dollar raised at our Mini Fete goes straight toward buying fun new toys for our school cubby houses.

School Fee Payments

Fee statements for Term 3 were sent out to all families this week. As we pass the midpoint of the school year, we encourage all families to review their school fee account and ensure payments are up to date.

As a general guide, families should have paid approximately 50% of their annual school fees by this stage of the year, and we are so grateful to all who have met this expectation. We also thank the families who have worked with the school to set up a payment plan.

If you have any questions regarding your account or require support, please contact the school office or myself.

Professional Learning for staff

This term the staff will be engaging in our compulsory modules in relation to the following:

• Anaphylaxis training
• Disability modules
• Diabetes modules
• Mandatory Reporting; and
• Positive Behaviour 

🏃‍♀️ Athletics Carnival NEXT Wednesday

Our Athletics Carnival is NEXT WEEK.  Keep your fingers and toes crossed for a beautiful sunny day.

Mordialloc College are very kindly sending along 20 of their Year 10 students to assist us on the day.  This means we will have lots of helpers! Thank you to those parents who have offered to help.  You are still most welcome to assist on the day, however, if you would like to come along as a spectator that is fine as well.  

Remember, it will be cold so please ensure your child has a coat and beanie to keep warm.  They will need their snack, lunch and a water bottle. Keep your eye on Nforma Connect for any updates.

Letter from the VCEA

Please see attached a letter from the Victorian Catholic Education Authority outlining the work that is currently underway to secure a funding commitment for capital investment in Victorian Catholic schools.  This would support ongoing improvements to our schools and provision of new schools. Please take the time to read the letter.

🏅 Champions Corner

Congratulations to Jude (1C) who won Gold competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!  Well done Jude that's an awesome effort.

Jordyn recently competed at the AASCF Winterfest Cheer & Dance Competition. Her team Emeralds placed first for Jazz and second for Lyrical / contemporary. Their Jazz dance was the highest scoring intermediate routine for the whole comp. Her hip hop team Titanium placed fifth. She will compete in the AASCF National championships at the end of November.  Well done Jordan we are very proud of you.

Book Week & Book Fair

It's now only two weeks until our annual Book Fair. This year our Book Fair runs from - Monday 11th August to Thursday 14th August.  We then follow on with Book Week which runs from Saturday 22nd 23rd of August to Friday 28 August.

We have some great activities planned during Book Week including our annual Book Week Parade.

Book Week Parade - Friday 28th August August - 9:00am - Come dressed as your Favorite Book Character.

Get your thinking hats on about your costume! The teachers are busy planning their outfits!   

WANTED - SANDPIT TOYS

We are in desparate need of some new toys for our sandpit here at school.  It is definitely a favourite play area.  If you have some toys for the sandpit that you would like to donate we would be very grateful.

Tuckshop Reopens Tomorrow
