School Captains Update

Hello Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 3 2026. 

The first thing we want to address is Celebrate the Sixes. Lately the year sixes have been learning about scarcity, supply and demand. This will help us with the price of products and managing the money. We just wanted to let you know because the date is impending and for all parents and carers who have students in year five and below you should all be very excited for them because it’s a really fun time. 

The Athletics carnival was held for years 4 - 6 at the start of the term. The students compete in a series of events such as; high jump, running races, shot put, and many more. They first compete in house groups, which give them an amazing opportunity to show house spirit and to collaborate with their house to chant the house chants and create their own. If they make it through to the next round they will qualify for districts and then divisions enabling them to represent the school.

The year 5-6 cohort also had The Film Festival at the start of this term. Last term they all created short stop motion films to present as one big film. The school rents movie theatres and students bring their parents/carers to watch their films. They also get to watch all the other groups' films as well. Each group is assigned a topic to create a film about, such as; The opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Women win the Federal vote, Cyclone Tracy, and many more.

Lately the school captains are talking about new ideas that we plan to implement in the school. One of our ideas was a book swap with the year fives and sixes. E.G: If one class had a Wings of Fire (for example) but they wanted Diary of a Wimpy Kid and another class who owns a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book and wanted Wings of Fire then they would swap or vice versa. 

For a bit of fun we wanted to share some of the interesting questions we've been asked on our school tours:

 Question for Charlie: What did you do to the French teacher?

Answer: He went on a long holiday.

Question for Aston: Are students allowed to use the microwave for heating up lunch?

Answer: Will that affect your decision of choosing the school? 

Question for Poppy: What grows in Pat’s Patch on the trees? 

Answer: I don’t know, I think figs.

Reply from person: It’s figs, I can smell it.

Question for Ale: What is your school curriculum, the Victorian or Australian?

Answer: I don’t know.

The tours have given us the opportunity to meet so many new people, and we are so excited that some of these wonderful people are enrolling their child/ren at EPS. We are so grateful that during this term, students have displayed the school values throughout the activities they partake in. We love to see the smiling faces in the yard. If anyone sees us in the school please come and say hi!
