Welcome to Term 3
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3!
I hope you and your family had the chance to enjoy a slower pace over the holidays, create some special memories and recharge for the term ahead. Winter can be a challenging time with coughs, colds and chilly mornings, so we especially appreciate everyone's efforts to get our students to school each day, ready to learn. Please remember that if your child is unwell, the best place for them to be is at home recovering. If your child does develop symptoms like a fever during the day, we will call for collection. Keeping on top of illnesses means less impact to our staff absences and ensures class programs can continue.
Unfortunately, I had to take some unplanned leave to be with my parents in NSW so after day 1 I was absent for the first couple of weeks. Being back this week has been a wonderful reminder of why I love our community so much. Seeing students reconnect with their teams and settling back into familiar routines has brought so much joy to our classrooms. There is something special about the energy that comes with the start of a new term.
Despite the weather, Term 3 promises to be another exciting one. Our teams have been busy planning engaging learning experiences that are tailored to all student’s individual strengths and goals. Whether students are developing communication skills, building independence, exploring new learning or celebrating personal achievements, every step forward is worth recognising and celebrating.
Despite our announcement of our new school’s name earlier in the year, we have been waiting for the Ministers approval. This has finally come through. Yay!
We will take this year to transition to our new name Djirri Djirri School. Our uniform colours will remain the same, but our logo will change. You will see changes to our COMPASS and official documents this term and we will provide a thorough teaching and learning program for our students. Be patient with us whilst we transition.
One of the things I am most proud of at Djirri Djirri School/Melton Specialist School is the way our community comes together. Families, staff and students all play an important role in creating a school where everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported. Thank you for the trust you place in us every day. I hope those of you who were able to do SSG's onsite enjoyed our new format of showcasing spaces/programs in the classroom. If you have any feedback, please let your classroom teacher or sub school leader know.
As always, please remember that we are here to support your family. If you have any questions, concerns or simply want to share your child's successes, we encourage you to reach out. Strong partnerships between home and school make an enormous difference, and we value every opportunity to work together.
