Go Girls, Go for IT

At the Go Girl, Go for IT event at Deakin University, the Year 5/6 girls took part in an exciting day filled with hands-on activities and inspiring sessions that introduced them to the world of technology and STEM. They explored workshops where they learned about the use of AI, visited tradeshows that exhibited various STEM innovations, and had the opportunity to create their own robot. The girls also heard from women working in tech who shared their career stories, helping the students see the many different and creative paths in STEM beyond just being "good at computers." Throughout the day, the girls learned how technology is shaping the future, gained confidence in their own potential, and saw how teamwork, curiosity, and problem-solving are key skills in tech careers. It was a fun and empowering experience that opened their eyes to possibilities they hadn’t considered before.
