CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

Last week, our school community was blessed to take part in a special pilgrimage experience as part of the 2025 Jubilee Year, themed Pilgrims of Hope. Students had the opportunity to visit a beautifully detailed replica of our diocesan cathedral, Sts Mary and Joseph in Armidale. The visit also included a look at the bishop’s chair, known as the cathedra, which symbolises the Bishop’s role in teaching and guiding our faith. We also welcomed several sacred relics belonging to beloved saints, including St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, St Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Carlo Acutis, Blessed Giorgio Frassati and St Teresa of Calcutta. These relics serve as a powerful reminder of the lives of the saints and how we, too, are called to live lives of love, service, and faith. It was a meaningful and memorable experience that invited us all, students and staff alike, to reflect on our own journey as pilgrims of hope.
This Saturday, 21st June at 5:30pm, 19 of our students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at Sacred Heart Church. We are honoured to welcome our newly appointed Bishop, Peter Murphy, who will celebrate this special occasion with us.
Confirmation is a key step in the journey of faith, strengthening the grace of Baptism and sealing the candidates with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Our students have been preparing with great care and reflection. On Friday, 20th June, they will attend a special preparation day, including Mass, Reconciliation, a rehearsal with Bishop Murphy, shared lunch, and activities focused on the Gifts of the Spirit.
Please keep these young people in your prayers as they take this important step in their faith.
Loving God,
We thank you for the 19 young people preparing to receive the
Sacrament of Confirmation.
Fill them with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May they grow in faith, walk in love, and be guided by Your Spirit each day.
Bless their families, teachers, and our whole school and parish community as we support them on this special journey.
Amen.
Next Friday, 27 June, our 5F class will lead the Primary Mass in celebration of the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus - an important day for our Sacred Heart Parish community.
The Mass will help us reflect on Jesus’ deep love for each one of us, symbolised by His Sacred Heart. The Gospel reading, the Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:3–7), reminds us that Jesus is like a shepherd who never gives up on us and rejoices when we return to Him.
We look forward to joining 5F in this special celebration, at Sacred Heart Church on Friday 27 June at 9:30am.
We are delighted that several of our staff members and a parent of the HTS community, will be welcomed into the Catholic Faith through the Sacraments of Initiation on Sunday 29 June at the 9:00am Mass. As they complete their RCIA journey, we celebrate their commitment and faith, and we pray that they continue to grow in God’s love.
School Mass times are 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church. Please remember that hot beverages should not be brought into the church.
