Miss Justine Goonan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Post a Prayer

Thank you to all in our Sacred Heart School community and the extended community who donated to our combined fundraiser with St. Michael's Primary School, Tallangatta. Our students proudly decorated a post each with messages of hope or something to brighten the days of those receiving them. Due to generous donations both schools were able to purchase enough for each student (plus lots of extras too) to decorate. At the end of term, our senior leaders proudly presented our posts to the Jarvis family who were significantly impacted when the bushfire went through Lucyvale. We hope that these posts bring some hope and joy to the Jarvis's as they begin the long road ahead of making repairs to their fences and farm.

MFSR Bush Festival

Thank you to our cowboys, cowgirls and families who participated in the parade again this year. The Festival is such a busy time for our community, and it is great to see so many of our students come together to represent our school during such a big event.

ANZAC Day Parade

We had an incredible turn out of students and families participate in the ANZAC mid-morning march and ceremony this year. It was wonderful to hear the stories of students and how their families or medals connect to such a special day of commemoration. Our senior students, Harriet and Ryan read confidently and proudly the 'In Flanders Fields' poem in front of a large audience and Max and Abel laid a wreath on behalf of our school community.

Athletics Carnival

It was a great day out at Corryong College for our combined Athletics Carnival. Thank you to all the families who were able to come along and support and encourage their cherubs. We have also passed on our thanks to the College for continuing to invite us to attend and to Waz (CC Staff Member) and Miss Lockwood for all of their work in organising the event.

Cross Country

We are currently awaiting the finer details of the Cross-Country events for next week. Once we have this information we will share via permission notes on PAM.

Mother's Day

On Friday we will hold our Mother's Day stall without the assistance of our wonderful P & C Community so they can get some surprise gifts on their Mother's Day!

We will visit the Mother's Day stall Friday morning ahead of the Cross Country event, in case any students leave for the day after the Cross Country.

We will celebrate our Mothers and those who are like Mothers to us on Monday the 11th of May. Our families are invited to come for a Mother's Day breakfast for all and a prayer as a school community afterwards. If families can please let us know a rough estimate of numbers who will be in attendance to help us with catering.

Learning and Teaching at Sacred Heart School

This past week we have had visitors from Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd to our school to observe our teaching and instruction. Our Staff have received incredible praise for their efforts and we look forward to sharing with you soon the great growth that our students have made in their learning in the past 12 months! Preliminary NAPLAN results have come in (results released to families at the start of Term 3) and our students have shown great growth!

Cleven Family

We keep the Cleven family in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of a loved Mum and Grandma, Marg Beirs. We pray that God’s comfort and peace will be especially near to the Cleven family in the days ahead, and that cherished memories of Marg bring moments of joy.

Please check the calendar for upcoming events.

Have a great weekend,

Justine
