Bulldogs Read Program
Yesterday Seth joined some other Buninyong year 5 students at the Bulldogs Read program launch at the Ballarat Library. Here, they joined students from a number of other local schools who are also participating in this exciting initiative. The Bulldogs Read program encourages students to develop a love of reading while building their literacy skills.
Students enjoyed meeting several AFLW players, Sarah Hartwig and Riley Wilcox, who spoke about the importance of reading and learning. There was also an opportunity for students to take part in a Q&A session, which was a highlight of the day.
Great work Seth!

Arrangements for SC1 on Athletics Day - Tuesday 10th March
While SC2 (including our Grade 3 students) attend athletics day, the remainder of our SC1 students will join Mrs Connor for the day at the Buninyong Campus. With support staff being required at the athletics, this will ensure that SC1 will be able to complete their normal academic program with the extra staffing support that the Buninyong campus can provide. As is our usual routine at Buninyong, SC1 students will meet Mrs Connor in the courtyard at Buninyong from 8:45am.
We will send out a reminder on Compass prior to next Tuesday.
Buninyong Primary School Ride2School
This year we will join up with the Buninyong campus for the annual Ride2School morning. Given our location, this event will be much easier and safer to complete in Buninyong, around the Buninyong campus there.
Students wishing to participate in the Ride2School morning, will complete the ride with everyone at Buninyong, then leave their bike there and get on the bus up to Scotsburn. They can then pick up their bike back at Buninyong after school.
For more information, have a read of the Ride2School section in today’s newsletter.
Date: Friday 20h March, 2026
Time: 8:15am Meeting at Buninyong Primary School (Simpson St)
Where: 2km loop around Buninyong Botanical Gardens
Parent Volunteer Help
Thank you to parents who have already put their name down to volunteer their time for both lunch orders and breakfast club. We very much appreciate it! If you are able to add your name to the signup sheet, please click on the link below. All volunteers need to have a current Working With Children's Check card on record at the office.
We would definitely love a few more volunteers to help pick up the lunch orders on Wednesdays and Fridays.

NAPLAN Dates for Grades 3 and 5
NAPLAN is fast approaching for our Grade 3s and 5s, starting Wednesday next week. This will make for quite a busy week next week, with Monday being a public holiday and Tuesday being our Grade 3-6 Athletics Day.
There is some wonderful information in both the Wellbeing and Teaching and Learning sections of today’s newsletter regarding NAPLAN, including some tips and tricks to help support your child during NAPLAN.
The main message is that the NAPLAN experience should be a positive one, and not a stressful one. It is a great chance to show off students’ knowledge and learning and feel a sense of achievement. It should definitely not be a stressful experience!

There are some very reasonably priced options available at all the large retail stores, like those pictured below.
Division Bowls Tryouts
Students in Grade 5/6 are invited to attend two tryout sessions for Division Lawn Bowls at first break (11am) on Wednesday 4th + 11th March. Students are encouraged to attend both sessions if they wish to be selected. Please bring along P.E. shoes for these training sessions. Any Grade 5/6 students wishing to try out will be transported by Scotsburn staff for these sessions.
Specialist News
If your child has any amazing artworks at home that they would like to enter in an art competition, just google “Spencil Art Prize 2026” (it is ending on March 4th, so you will have to be speedy). Apologies for the short notice, it’s only just come to my attention, but it sounds great! You are most welcome to pop in and photograph any work that is currently in your child’s portfolio, they can be found on a shelf in the Art Room just behind the seating area.
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
