Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parent and Carers,

Welcome to the 2026 School Year!

It has been a joy to see our playground and classrooms come alive again. We officially welcomed our 2026 student cohort last Thursday and the energy across the school has been fantastic.

Our Newest Students

A very special milestone was reached on Monday as our Kindergarten class of 2026 joined us. They arrived full of confidence and brimming with enthusiasm! We are thrilled to welcome:

  • Freya, Haisley, Henry, Hunter, Ivory, Jaala, Lily, Mabel, Oliver, Rose and Sienna.

We wish you all a fun-filled and wonder-packed start to your school journey.

We also have some new and returning faces in the older grades:

  • Elijah (Year 1) joins us from St Lawrence's, Coonabarabran.
  • Alexis (Year 5) returns to the St Michael's family after twelve months at St Philomena's, Moree.

Staff & Community Welcomes

Please join us in welcoming our new staff members who are already doing wonderful work in their classrooms:

  • Leah Downes – K/1 Classroom Teacher
  • Holly Murphy – 5/6 Classroom Teacher

We also extend a warm welcome to Fr Damien Locke. We look forward to working closely with him and the St Michael's Parish as our students continue their faith-filled journeys.

Save the Date: Meet and Greet

We value the partnership between home and school and invite you to meet our team:

  • When: Monday, March 9 commencing at 4.45 p.m.
  • Details: Further information will be circulated next week.

Annual Swimming Carnival 🏊‍♂️

It’s time to make a splash! We are looking forward to a day of competition, house spirit and fun at our upcoming carnival.

  • When: Wednesday, February 11
  • Where: Manilla Pool

A massive thank you to Emma Martin for her hard work in organising the event and to our P&F Committee for their invaluable assistance in making the day possible.

Successful competitors from the day will be selected to represent St Michael’s at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival, which will be held in Inverell on Friday, February 27.

Uniform Excellence: A Friendly Reminder 👟

At St Michael’s, we take great pride in our school identity and the way our students present themselves is a big part of that. A reminder that navy socks are a required part of the daily uniform for all students.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many families who ensure their children arrive at school each day in the correct uniform. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated—it truly enhances the school spirit and maintains the professional image of St Michael’s within the community.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for the pride you take in our school community. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming Swimming Carnival and our Staff Meet & Greet.

Enjoy a fabulous weekend,

Bronwyn
