Grade 5

Term 2 in Grade 5 was action packed and filled with many exciting, engaging activities - our students worked hard in class too! Check out what our calendar kept us busy with during Term 2:
APRIL:
Our Grade 6 School Leaders did an amazing job preparing and leading our annual Oatlands ANZAC Day Ceremony. It was a very moving occasion, greatly appreciated by all in attendance. Our Grades 3-6 students competed in our Cross Country Trials - successful students moving through to District, Division and Regional events.
MAY:
It was a pleasure welcoming so many of our Mums to our annual Mother’s Day Morning; listening to our guest speaker, enjoying time in classrooms with their children and morning tea kept everyone happily busy.
During their Water Safety and Swimming Program, our students refined their skills as well as becoming water confident and competent; they had a lot of fun too!
National Simultaneous Storytime is always a highlight, encouraging enjoyment and ultimately a love of reading in all students.
The Staff v Students Soccer Match was an absolute highlight for students and staff alike. The skills on show were impressive; the chanting was pretty good too!
JUNE:
Grade 5 Camp was a highlight for the 139 students and 14 staff who attended our Camp in Phillip Island. Our students learned a lot about themselves while on Camp; they challenged themselves, showed wonderful resilience and had the best time with their friends and classmates.
Our Grades 3-6 Athletics Carnival was recently held at Casey Fields; it was terrific to see the effort our students put into each event, along with the high level of sportsmanship. We wish those students moving on to District Athletics all the very best.
A summary of Term 2 in Grade 5, by the students in 5MD is as follows:
Term 2 was the best because it had awesome events. Camp, cooking and athletics were perfect! Camp was fun because the cabins and activities were 👌. Athletics got us up and laziness was forbidden. Cooking was 😀 finger lickin’ good ‘cause of the tasty spring rolls. (Sathiyan)
Movie Night (Camp), Morning Meeting-activity and share, Blooket and Kahoot!, Library and Cooking. (Oshada)
This term we enjoyed making our Culture Posters for Integrated. (Aura, Kaycee, Aisha)
In Term 2 we had Camp and our Whole Class Reward and Essential Assessment. (Max, Aiden)
We really likes Sport and Art, the Teachers vs Students soccer match and cooking in the Kitchen (Jack, Bentley)
My Term 2 highlights are going on Grade 5 Camp, finally finishing Rooftoppers, making spring rolls and my birthday! (Layla)
My favourite thing about T2 was getting to know my classmates better, the adventures of Camp and all the heartwarming Buddy sessions. (Soha)
My school highlight was Camp because we did so many fun activities, got to bond with people I didn’t really know and I got to do challenges that I was a tiny bit scared of. (Mila)
In Term 2, Eva loved going to Camp, reading books and being a Morning Meeting Monitor. Fynn loved having his birthday on Camp, cooking spring rolls, Morning Meetings and Library.
Our highlights of term 2 were camp, Athletics and cooking. We had so much fun doing all of these this term. (Milica, Katiah, Thea)
We went cooking and made spring rolls and went to Camp. We loved Camp, it was wonderful; it was so fun. In our cabin we weren’t so tidy, but we put Jagger’s bed on the floor near us. It was very fun and the food there was good. (Cooper, Samir, Jagger)
We look forward to what Term 3 will bring us and know that our students will put just as much effort into their learning as they did in Term 2, and have just as much fun too!
