Mini Woolies officially opens!

The highlight of last week was undoubtedly the official launch of Mini Woolies at Monash SDS on Wednesday. It was an incredibly proud and exciting occasion for our entire school community as we celebrated the opening of this wonderful new learning space.

Mini Woolies will provide our students with meaningful, hands-on opportunities to develop their communication, numeracy, social interaction, independence and everyday living skills. Within a realistic and supportive environment, students will be able to practise selecting products, shopping, operating the registers, following workplace routines and working alongside others.

Seeing the completed store and watching our students confidently demonstrate their developing skills was very special. This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring learning is purposeful, engaging and connected to life beyond the classroom.

I extend our sincere thanks to Woolworths and everyone who contributed to bringing Mini Woolies to Monash SDS. I am also extremely grateful to our staff and students who worked so hard to prepare for the launch and helped make the occasion such a success.

Celebrating Khushali

I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful School Captain, Khushali, who danced in the annual Remitly Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Dance Competition at Federation Square on Saturday 15 August.

I was amazed by Khushali’s talent and dancing skills and incredibly proud to see her participate in such a significant community event. Performing publicly takes confidence, commitment and courage, and this was a fantastic achievement.

Well done Khushali! We are very proud of you!

Science Week

Last week, our students have been participating in Science Week, engaging in practical and sensory learning experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration and discovery.

Science provides wonderful opportunities for our students to observe, investigate, communicate, make choices and develop their understanding of the world around them. It has been lovely to see the excitement and enthusiasm generated by the activities taking place across the school.
