Dear Families,

It certainly feels as though we have entered the busy part of the school term and we are looking forward to balancing our classroom learning with a range of activities each week up until the holidays. Thankfully the weather is starting to warm up and we will be back to wearing hats at school at the start of September.

Student Learning Catch Ups - Don't forget to make sure you have booked a Student Learning Catch Up for your child for this coming Tuesday. A reminder that this is not a normal school day and students only come to school for their Learning Catch Up time. School uniform is not required.

Father's Day Breakfast - On Thursday next week we will be having a BBQ Brekky at school to celebrate Father's Day. Students should have brought home an invitation with them this week to pass on. We look forward to welcoming our Dads and special people into school on Thursday morning.

Active Schools Works - We are looking forward to some building works taking place at school in the coming weeks which are a result of the Active Schools Grant our school received earlier this year. This will include some concreting to create a path from the main school building down to the scooter track to enable students to scoot/ride down to the track and also the installation of a concrete panel rebound wall on our basketball court to enable a range of activities for students. Once these are completed we will organise some painting to liven them up a bit.

Parent Opinion Survey - Thank you to those families who have already completed our yearly Parent Opinion Survey. This will remain open until the 18th of September, so please jump on and complete the survey if you have an opportunity and haven't already.

2027 Prep Transition - We are looking forward to seeing our 2027 Prep students again next week for another transition session. We have two sessions remaining for this term which will be held on:

Wednesday 2nd September: 9am-11.30am
Tuesday 15th September: 9am-11.30am

Upcoming Events

Book Week Excursion to Bridgewater PS - On Friday 4th September, our school will be travelling across to Bridgewater Primary School to join them for a joint Book Week celebration day. This will be our Book Week Dress Up day as well. Students are encouraged to come dressed as a character from a book or story they love! There will be a Costume Parade in the morning for those families who may wish to travel across to Bridgewater to join us. For the remainder of the day, students will participate in a rotation of activities based around short-listed picture story books from this year. We will be travelling to Bridgewater PS by bus, with a couple of students travelling across in a staff member's car as well. There will be a cost of $7 per student for this excursion which will go towards covering bus travel costs for the day. Payment can be made by:

Cash payment to either James or Taylah.
EFT Bank Transfer to school account.
If your child has CSEF funds, this amount can be deducted from remaining CSEF. Please let James or Taylah know if you would prefer this.

Rushworth P-12 Carnival Excursion - On Tuesday 8th September, our school will be travelling across to Rushworth to attend their yearly Wellbeing Carnival which we have been invited too. The Rushworth Carnival will includes lots of fun activities in the morning (Face Painting, Zorb Balls, Obstacle Course etc) and then a Colour Run before having Hot Dogs for lunch. We will be leaving school at 9am and we will be back at school in the afternoon ready for a normal end of day finish. We will be travelling by bus, with a few students travelling by private vehicle with a staff member. Students will need to wear school uniform but will also need to bring along a white t-shirt and some old shorts to change into for the Colour Run. A cheap t-shirt from Big W or Kmart might be best. They will also need to bring along an old towel for the bus ride home. There will be a cost of $11 per student for this excursion which will go towards covering bus travel costs for the day. Payment can be made by:

Campaspe Cluster Science Day Excursion - On Wednesday 16th September, we will be travelling across to Elmore Primary School to participate in our annual Cluster Science Day. Students will join with other students from across the cluster to participate in multi-age science based activities. We will be leaving school at 9am and we will be back at school in the afternoon ready for a normal end of day finish. We will be travelling by bus, with a few students travelling by private vehicle with a staff member. Students will need to wear full school uniform and bring along their lunch, snacks and a drink bottle. There will be an opportunity to order lunch for students through Subway like there was last year, information will be shared separately on uEducateUs about this. There will be a cost of $8 per student for this excursion which will go towards covering bus travel costs for the day. Payment can be made by:

Bendigo Excursion Day - On Thursday 17th of September, we will be travelling to Bendigo for a whole school Bendigo excursion. P-2 students will be heading to the Ulumbarra Theatre to see a production show of Room on the Broom, a picture story book by Julia Donaldson that we love! 3-6 students will be heading to the Central Deborah Gold Mine for a Mine Experience where they will get to explore how the discovery of vast gold deposits in the Bendigo Creek turned a sleepy sheep run into a mixing pot of cultures, connecting to inquiry learning in the classroom from this term. Both classes will then meet back together for lunch, before heading out to Gurri Wanyarra Swimming Pool for the final swim of our swimming program. We will be travelling to Bendigo in the morning by Vline train. Students will need to be dropped off at Raywood Station no later than 8.30am. Once in Bendigo, P-2 students will walk to Ulumbarra Theatre and 3-6 students will walk to Central Deborah Gold Mine. After the morning activities, both groups will meet back together for lunch. After lunch, we will travel out to the pool for our 1.45pm swimming lesson before returning to school for a normal end of day pick up. Travel out to the pool and back to school will be by bus, with a few students travelling by private car with a staff member. Students will need to wear school uniform and bring along their backpack with everything they need for swimming later in the day. They will need recess snacks and their drink bottle, but won't need lunch as school will organise this. There is no cost for this excursion.

Term 4 Events - Information has started to come home with students about our three camps that will be occurring in the first part of Term 4. We look forward to these fun activities!

Whole School Melbourne Camp: 2nd-3rd November
Grade 3/4 Kookaburra Camp: 9th-11th November
