Netball

School Championship netball was a great success again this year, with all four College teams competing strongly on the day: the Year 7–8 Junior Girls, Year 9–10 Intermediate Girls, and Year 11–12 Senior Girls, plus a team from the Junior Campus.

Junior Team

Thank you to Alana Brown for coaching the Junior Girls on the day after Mrs Ogle was unable to attend at the last minute. The Year 7/8 Junior netballers only had four games in their draw for the Schoolgirls Championships.

They won against Portland Secondary College and Bayview College but lost to Monivae Navy and Emmanuel College. The girls played well as a team and showed resilience and adaptability in the tough games. It was impressive to see several of the players take on multiple positions on the court, from shooting to defence, to provide height under the ring. It would have been great to have another game or two for the girls to further enjoy this opportunity to play together and continue growing on the court.

The team was made up of: Elodie Cochran, Grace O’Sullivan, Georgia Brown, Ellie Lewis, Imogen Johns, Annie Colliton, Ruby Price, Annika Fitzsimmons, Olivia Baulch and Charlotte Allen. Special shoutout to Charlotte, who was the only Year 7 player and was an asset to the team.

Intermediate Team

The Year 9/10 Girls had a fantastic day, finishing third overall in a highly competitive tournament. Our shooters Sophie, Ava and Charlotte combined brilliantly in the goal circle, Eve, Charlotte and Isla controlled the midcourt, with valuable assistance from Leila and Ava, while Elsie, Annabel and Billie stood tall in the defensive end.

The girls demonstrated outstanding teamwork and determination throughout the day, and represented the College with pride. They should be very proud of their efforts! A big thank you to their coach, Emily Hausler, for supporting and encouraging the team both on the day of the competition and in the weeks leading up to it.

Senior Team

The Year 11/12 Girls had a very successful day, winning four out of their five games. They defeated Portland Secondary, St Brigid’s, Casterton Secondary and Baimbridge, before narrowly losing to Monivae by just three goals.

For our Year 12 students, this competition was their final netball competition at the College, making it a particularly special and emotional day. It was impressive to watch our versatile team confidently move between positions and adapt throughout each game. The girls played amazingly well and demonstrated respect, teamwork and integrity across all five matches.

A big thank you to all of our coaches: Alana Brown and Mrs Ogle (Year 7/8), Emily Hausler (Year 9/10), and Sharnah Malseed (Year 11/12), for coaching the teams on the day and supporting them in the weeks leading up to the competition.

We would also like to thank the umpires - Susie Holcombe, Angela Morey and Emily Kelson - who generously gave up their time to assist with the games, as well as the netball coordinators at Pedrina Park and Mrs Ogle. We could not have made the day possible without your help, and we are incredibly grateful for all of your support.

2026-27 Rowing Season

Expressions of interest are now open for the 2026-27 Rowing Season. The Hamilton and Alexandra College Rowing program aims to provide an inclusive, fun, and competitive program that teaches students to row and offers appropriate opportunities to compete at Victorian regattas as their skills progress. Rowing is the ultimate team sport and fosters the development of individual accountability, self-confidence, resilience, and learning to manage and cope with expectations.

In the expression of interest form, you will find a link to the 2026-27 Rowing Handbook, which outlines important information about the program, regatta dates, costs, and expectations of students.

Basketball

College teams are working hard on the court and looking ahead to the finals.

U12B Girls – Sooty Owls

The Sooty Owls came out strong, making the first half theirs and owning the court that night. The girls went up against Barber Babes Black and won by 29 points, securing their second place on the ladder. Player of the day was Harriet Small, with 12 points, but what stood out was sportsmanship and an inclusive game approach. Well done, girls.

U14B Girls – Snowy Owls

A 37-point win against Tigers. Every player who played showed versatility on the court and should be proud of their efforts throughout the whole game. Well done to Pippa Quinn, shooting 12 points and Georgina Whale, putting up 10 points, and each player for your grit and determination.

U14B Girls – Sooty Owls

Went down to Minders Blue by 18-points. After half time, the girls came out strongly and narrowed the margin. Violet Shrive shot 3 points for her team and fought hard for the ball. All players should be proud of their efforts and team play.

U16A Girls – Majestic Owls - BYE

U16B Girls – Snowy Owls

The girls took to the court with one goal: to ensure everyone was involved and put points on the board. They had an extraordinary 71-point win is week, against Minders White, and held their top ladder position. They achieved their goal, with everyone scoring getting a score on the board and played so well as a team. Annika Fitzsimmons scored 26 points for her team and dropped 3x 3-pointers.

Div 2 Women – Snowy Owls

Another great week from our Div 2 girls going head-to-head against Pure Envy Coasters, pulling ahead to win by 6-points. Outstanding shooting came from Tara Gould, who put up 10 points and was a key rebounder, using her height to her advantage and putting the shots back up. This team has improved significantly this season, and this was a fantastic matchup.

Div 3 Women – Majestic Owls

Playing against the Crocodiles, it was a tight back-and-forth match, with College coming home with another exciting 7-point win. This was a well-deserved win for the girls, and the teamwork gained them the win. Amazing shooting came from Elsie Brown, who shot 24 points, alongside Ava Ryan, with 14 points.
