A message from Stage 3
There have been some fantastic things happening in Stage 3! We finished off Term 3 and our Slam Poetry unit with a number of students auditioning for the Arts Unit Slam Poetry Competition. This year, primary students were asked to incorporate the phrase ‘Little Actions, Big Roars’ somewhere within their performance. This phrase can be interpreted widely, but our poets were encouraged to explore an aspect related to the environment.
Well done to Sophie CG, Killian G, Rosie L, Claudia P, Georgie L, Georgia C, Michael CB, and Syndee S who all spent a significant amount of their own time using the skills developed in class to prepare, practise and perform their slam poems. You should all be very proud of your efforts.
We have just received exciting news that Claudia Pryce (S3P) was successful in making it though to the next round of the competition. She will be going head-to-head with a number of other students across the state, presenting her poem online at the end of the month. A huge congratulations! We all wish her the best of luck!
In Visual Arts, Stage 3 students have been working on developing their skills in graffiti art. They began practising their skills on paper, experimenting with different ways to make their artworks vibrant with different colour choices and mediums and then transferred these skills over to a mixed medium artwork 'Graffiti Fences'. Their artworks also made a vibrant feature at the recent Creative Streets Festival. It was wonderful to see people engaging with these artworks that were projected onto buildings and in the streets of Armidale.

We were very proud of our BVPS Girls Soccer Team becoming Regional Champions! The girls have worked extremely hard this year and are very deserving of this title. We were also very lucky that we were able to be spectators at the State Quarter Final game, played at the Armidale Phil Wheaton Oval. There would have been some hoarse voices by the end of it due to all the cheering and there were also some great sideline moves to encourage our girls. We couldn’t be more proud of how hard they worked throughout the game!

The regional final debate between Ben Venue and Tamworth PS will be held on Friday 30 October. Tamworth PS will be traveling to us for an in-person debate. We wish Imogen H, Sophie CG, Sophie F, Sophia W and Claudia the best of luck! We hope you can come away with the win, as you did against the teachers!!
A huge congratulations also goes out to Claudia Pryce. Claudia has been selected as one of 4 students in the New England area to represent the region in Sydney for debating. We wish her the very best of luck!
