St Simon District Athletics Team 2026

Congratulations to all students who have been selected to represent St Simon’s in the District Athletics Team! This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of your effort and determination that made it possible for you to be selected in the team!

Our team has been carefully selected based not only on outstanding performances at the Year 3–6 Athletics Day, but also on students’ demonstrated skills, technique, and progress throughout the Physical Education program. Previous District Athletics results have also been taken into consideration, ensuring a strong and competitive team.

We wish our athletes the very best of luck as they compete on Friday 8th May at Knox Athletics Track—we know you’ll do us proud. Go St Simon’s!

🏃‍♂️ Training InformationTraining sessions for specific track and field events will be held on selected days, weather permitting. Should there be any changes due to weather conditions, families will be notified via an Nforma message. In the case of poor weather, sessions may be relocated to the school hall.

A special training session to prepare students at Knox Athletics Track will be held on Wednesday 13th May providing students with the main track/field setting to train on.

We hope your child is able to participate in the training sessions. Further training will be provided during school time.

Year 5 & 6 District Winter Sport

Our Year 5 and 6 District Winter Sport teams have been shared with our students. Team selection is based on their interests, their skill displayed within the Physical Education program and other factors including their involvement at the community and club level sports outside of school.

Please see below the team list and the required support of parent helpers for each team. Thank you to those parents who have already put their hand up to coach and/or umpire a team.

We are still in need of parent helpers for the following teams:

Soccer Boys/Mixed B team

Netball A and B girls team

Teeball Boys and Girls team

We greatly need more parent support of our teams to ensure our staff are available to supervise and attend to students as necessary with injuries etc.

If you are available to coach a team please contact Mr Karl Camerino. Our days of competition are on Friday 29th May and Tuesday 9th June. Parent coaches are welcome to the train session to train their nominated teams.

We greatly appreciate the help on the day!

We ask Year 5 and 6 parents to keep an eye out for the permission form coming shortly with information regarding the Winter Sport competition.

Winter Sport Training sessions

We hope your child is able to attend the following morning training sessions to support their teamwork, gameplay and skill. Volleystar teams and other teams will be trained during the school day as well.

Congratulations to all students selected for the team! Being chosen to represent St Simon in the SSV Cross Country is a wonderful achievement and a proud opportunity to compete for our school. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We encourage students to continue building their endurance and stamina by practising their running over the 2km and 3km distances, ideally with the support of their families.

Team selection was based not only on House Cross Country results, but also on performances and times recorded during Physical Education classes, as well as previous representation of our school cross country and athletics teams in long distance events.

A permission form will be sent home later this week for all competitors, including emergency runners. Please ensure this form is signed and returned as soon as possible.

We particularly call out to all future Year 5 and 6 parents to note the dates and to be potentially available to support our Interschool Sport teams as parent involvement not only supports our students in many ways as coaches and umpires but helps our staff with assistance with supervision.
