Specialist Subjects

OASIS - Matt Butcher 

Students will finish the Animal Survival unit they started in Term 1 and then they will learn that plants have different features that are adapted to the habitat in which they live. 

Art - Carmel Fitzgerald 

In Term Two, the Grade Five students will be discussing and creating artworks from Ancient Egypt using the visual conventions of artworks from that time. They will also focus on a contemporary artist, looking at shadows and perspective and create artworks from these discussions. 

Music – Tania Rusbridge  

Students will use keyboards, pianos and bar instruments to learn about chord structure. They will learn to play primary triads, enabling them to play a variety of known popular songs.   

Science - Emma Jensen 

Students will continue to build upon their knowledge from Term 1 about Light. They will conclude the unit with explorations on how light can be manipulated and will put this knowledge into practice by creating a kaleidoscope.  

PE - Danielle Coates & Class Teachers 

Our initial focus is physical activities designed to enhance and measure fitness. Students will then be exposed to target games. These activities will allow students to explore tactics such as; judging distance, shot/throw selection, positioning, and applying controlled force to increase accuracy. Our term will conclude with preparations for our school athletics sports early in Term 3.
