Principal's Message

Dear Holy Family Community,

It is with great joy that I welcome all students, families and staff back for Term 3. I hope the holiday break provided opportunities for rest, renewal and quality time with family and friends. As we begin a new term together, we look forward to the many learning experiences, faith celebrations and community events that make Holy Family such a special place.

At Holy Family, our motto "Strength and Gentleness" continues to guide all that we do. We encourage our students to demonstrate strength in their learning, resilience and leadership, while showing gentleness through kindness, compassion and respect for others. These values are woven through every aspect of school life and will continue to be a focus throughout the term.

Our staff commenced the term with a Staff Development Day focused on Curriculum Reform and NAPLAN analysis, continuing our commitment to delivering contemporary, engaging and evidence-informed learning experiences for every student. Families were able to access their child's Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN results this week, providing valuable insights into student growth and achievement. Also, all students commenced 10 weeks of Zing Activ dance lessons, thanks to the P&F for supporting this learning opportunity.

There is much to look forward to over the coming weeks.  Next week, we will celebrate 100 Days of Kindergarten, recognising the remarkable growth and learning of our youngest students. Families are warmly invited to attend our Coffee and a Chat with the Principal, an opportunity to connect and discuss school initiatives in an informal setting.

Students will enjoy a Musica Viva performance, while we also welcome parents to come and see our Graduate Program. We look forward to our regular Maxi "Mate at the Gate" mornings and fortnightly assemblies, which celebrate student achievement and strengthen our sense of community.

August brings several important events, including the Annual Census, the St Mary of the Cross Mass, and our Winter Family Sleepout in St Brigid's Hall. These opportunities remind us of the importance of faith, service and social justice within our Catholic community.

We are delighted to welcome future families through our 2027 Kindergarten Transition Program, while many students will proudly represent Holy Family at the North Shore Athletics Carnival. We will also gather as a faith community to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, Children's Masses and class liturgies throughout the term.

A highlight of Term 3 is always Book Week, with an exciting author visit, our Stage 3 students will participate in Write A Book In A Day, and our popular Book Week Parade. During this time, we will also host our Open Day, showcasing our Leader in Me and Friendology programs, which help develop student leadership, wellbeing and positive relationships.

We look forward to celebrating our fathers and special father figures at the Father's Day Breakfast and Mass, followed by the 50th Lindfield Art Show and Fair. This milestone event is a wonderful celebration of community spirit and the extraordinary partnership between our school, parish and families.

As the term progresses, students will also participate in the Zing Activ Showcase and the Interschools Challenge, school Masses, public speaking competitions and many opportunities to learn, grow and serve others.

Graduate Program - Completing Year 6 at Holy Family 

At Holy Family School, our Graduate Program is designed to ensure that every student leaves Year 6 as a confident, capable, and compassionate young person, ready to embrace the next stage of their education. The program focuses on developing the whole child-academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually- while nurturing a strong sense of responsibility and leadership.

One of the key advantages of remaining at Holy Family until the end of Year 6 is the opportunity for students to take on meaningful leadership roles within our school community. As the senior students, our Year 5 and 6 cohort become role models for younger students, leading by example in the classroom, on the playground, and during school events.

Opportunities such as school leadership positions, buddy programs, liturgical roles, and involvement in whole-school initiatives allow students to develop confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of service to others. Our Graduate Program also provides targeted experiences that support a smooth transition to secondary school. Students are guided to become independent learners, critical thinkers, and resilient individuals who are prepared to manage new challenges. They are encouraged to reflect on their learning, set goals, and take ownership of their personal growth.

Remaining at Holy Family until the end of Year 6 allows students to fully benefit from these opportunities, strengthening friendships, deepening their connection to the school, and completing their primary years with a strong sense of achievement and belonging.

We are incredibly proud of our graduating students each year and the way they embody our school values as they move forward with confidence, faith, and a love of learning. We look forward to seeing you at the presentation as we celebrate their journey and achievements together.
