Year 4 Eucharist

Many of the Year 4 students celebrated their First Eucharist on Sunday - here is what some students said about their experience. Congratulations again to all the students.

Ava

I was really nervous when I got there. Before, it was just a practice, so there wasn’t any pressure. But now it was the real thing, so it was really scary. There were many different slides that we had to respond to when the priest told us to. After we responded to the slides, the priest started calling us up one by one to receive the bread of Christ. When I got up, the Priest said, “The body of Christ,” before giving it to me. After everyone had taken their Eucharist, we all got together for a photo. To celebrate my Eucharist, my family and I went to a restaurant in Mickleham. Overall it was really fun!

Something that surprised me was that there was more than one priest. My favourite part was spending time with my family. I learnt that when I received the body of Christ, my sins got taken away, and when I went to my afterparty, I went to a restaurant and ate yummy food. I took loads of photos and got to spend the remaining time with my family.

When I first arrived, I took my family picture, and then I sat down to get started. I felt excited and nervous. I was excited because it was all new to me. I got to sit next to my family, and we listened to the Priest. The Priest was talking about receiving the body of Christ. In class, my classmates and I got prepared by practising the steps on how to receive the holy bread.

Once we arrived, we sat down and waited for it to start. I felt excited as it was my first Holy Communion. My family and I walked to the chairs. We bowed down and went back to our seats where we were sitting. When I ate the bread for the first time, I got a certificate for our First Holy Communion. As this celebration happened, my family members gave me money for my first ever communion.

Kyara

When I arrived, my family and I took pictures, then I showed my family where I had to sit. Afterwards, we had to line up in the order the teachers told us to, and we introduced ourselves while walking down the aisle. We got the holy bread after introducing ourselves; I felt like God was in the palms of my hands. After receiving the holy bread, I drove home with my parents.

My family and I walked over to the seats. I felt nervous as it was my first ever Holy Communion. Soon, we went to the priest to receive the bread for the first time. I felt delighted and excited because I got the bread for the first time, and I got a certificate for getting my first ever communion. After the communion, we went to my family to watch the Soccer games. I  also took some photos with my family. After that, we went to Craigieburn Sporting Club where we played many games and o cut a cake as a celebration.

I was really nervous about the Eucharist, but also really excited at the same time. When I got there, I sat down with my family waiting for the service to begin. Father George was the Priest. He started talking about the Eucharist and telling how important it is. Then I had to go up to do a reading from the Gospel. It told me to show grace and courage towards the Lord and others. After this, Father George read more scriptures until I was called up to receive the Eucharist. I was the first in line when I received the host; they said, “The Body of Christ.”I responded with Amen. They gave me a certificate to congratulate me on receiving the bread. Finally, I went back home and celebrated with my family.

Gizelle

First, I found a dress. Then I had to straighten my hair for the Eucharist a couple of days before the Eucharist. On the day, I felt nervous and excited at the same time, so most of my family came to celebrate my First Eucharist. This day was special to me because I got to get closer to God. My favourite thing about the day was spending time with my family.

Talent Show

This week we had a talent show for both the juniors and seniors. It was really great to see so much talent out there. The competition was really close, so we had a hard time deciding the winners. We will announce them next week at assembly.

Thanks to all who participated and to the students who attended to watch; it was a lot of fun and awesome to see everyone get involved. Due to popular demand, we may have another one at some stage during the rest of the year.  Here are a few photos:

Pyjama Day Support Foster Kids with Big Dreams

On the 24th of July next term, on the Friday of Week 2, we will have our National Pyjama Day.

We will be collecting money to help kids who are in foster care.

So start thinking about what you would like to wear, and stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the day.

You can wear pyjamas or an oodie or get creative with your outfits for PJ Day.

You will need to wear runners on this day and no slippers due to safety reasons

We will have some prizes for the best dressed on this day.

This will be a gold coin donation on the day, but if your families would like to donate more, here is the link for the donation page:

Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm and ready to come back for the last week of Term 2.
