Kelston 1st 15 Auckland 1A Rugby Comp Champs:

You may wonder why this is a feature, but it is for a very good reason. One-third of the team who beat previously unbeaten Auckland Grammar in the Auckland First 15 1A Competition final were ex-Western Heights pupils.

It was a massive occasion with at least 1,000 Auckland Grammar boys filling the stadium with their chants. With a roll of over 2,800 compared with Kelston's roll of only 800, the odds were stacked against Kelston. However, that Westie Spirit is strong and those Kelston boys played with composure, passion, flair, commitment and a never-say-die attitude.

The final was played at Eden Park in front of an estimated crowd of 10,000. The atmosphere was incredible! The final result was 27 to 15 to Kelston, and the joy and celebration were immense.
