Principal Chat

Dear Families,

May already and getting close to half way through the term already! What is going on! Never a dull moment at Niangala Public School!

We have held the Athletics Carnival, and the Cross Country both of which were opportunities for us all as a community to celebrate the sporting prowess and sportsmanship of our wonderful students. I love combining with other schools to provide our students with opportunities to develop their social skills and form other friendships. Thank you to the parents and carers for their support and for helping to make the day fun and memorable for all the children.

We also had a farewell morning tea for Eileen who has recently retired from cleaning at our school after 16 years of cleaning up after Niangala Public School staff and students! Again we thank Eileen for her years of service and wish her all the best with retirement, we hope it's full of well earned rest and relaxation!

Niangala students have also being busy working on their bird project which is getting to the pointy end now and I look forward to seeing the presentation in a few weeks time to our panel of experts.

I would like to end this chat with a quote that resonated with me yesterday whilst participating in a webinar on giving effective feedback. I wanted to share the quote as I found it very powerful in terms of the power, the joy and the importance of learning. It also brings to light the many ways in which learning can happen and the role in which we can all play in each other's learning.

"Real learning gets to the heart of what it means to be human. Through learning we re-create ourselves. Through learning we become able to do something we never were able to do. Through learning we repercieve the world and our relationship to it. Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be part of the generative process of life. There is within each of us a deep hunger for this type of learning."
