In the Classroom

Wild Rivers Alliance Athletics Carnival
Our school proudly participated in the Wild Rivers Alliance Athletics Carnival, held recently at the Uralla Sporting Complex alongside the Thunderbolt Alliance of Schools. It was a fantastic day of sport, competition, and community spirit.
Students demonstrated exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and determination across a range of track and field events. The carnival provided a wonderful opportunity for our young athletes to challenge themselves, make new friends, and represent our school with pride.
We are thrilled to announce the champions of the day: Junior Boy - Lindsay Ham (Niangala), Junior Girl - Holly Partridge (Niangala), 11 yrs Boy - Nathaniel Worthington (Woolbrook) and Senior Girl - Lexi McKern (Woolbrook). Both Lindsay and Holly showcased outstanding performances and were worthy recipients of their respective titles.
Congratulations to all our students who competed and gave their best throughout the day. A big thank you to the organisers and volunteers from the Thunderbolt Alliance of Schools and the Wild Rivers Alliance for making the event such a memorable experience.
We look forward to next year’s carnival and another opportunity to celebrate the talents and achievements of our students.
Cross Country and Fun Day
Niangala Public School Cross Country and Cultural Visit at Walcha
Our Niangala Public School students enjoyed a memorable day at the Cross Country event held on the picturesque levy banks of Walcha. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students, parents, and staff to come together, embrace the outdoors, and showcase their endurance and team spirit.
Following the cross country races, the group visited the Walcha Pioneer Cottage, where students explored a fascinating array of historical exhibits. Among the highlights were the impressive Tiger Moth crop duster, a collection of vintage dolls, and poignant photos and stories honouring Walcha residents who bravely served in World War One and Two. These exhibits provided a meaningful connection to our local history and heritage.
The day concluded with a relaxing picnic lunch shared by students and parents, followed by a scenic walk around the beautiful Apsley Falls. It was delightful to see such enthusiastic participation from the whole school community.
We thank all the families who joined us for this special day, and we look forward to more experiences that blend physical activity with learning and community spirit.
Green Thumbs and Cooking Crew
On Friday, 8th May, 2026, The Cooking and Green Thumbs Crew cooked crunchy noodle salad. The Green Thumbs picked a juicy green wombok and 2 spring onions from our Vegepod. We planted some iceburg lettuces in the place of the harvested womboks. Coby did a great job watering the freshly planted lettuces. The Cooking Crew chopped and sliced the wombok and spring onions to create a delicious wombok salad.
The Green Thumbs also tidied up the vegetable by picking the old frost bitten vegetable plants. The compost was turned by Lindsay and he noticed that it is full of moisture and worms working hard to create soil.
The wombok tasted crunchy and delicious! We have attached the recipe below if you would like to make it at home.
