Principal's Message
(Acting Principal)
Jackson School is a collaborative learning community for all. We aim to develop independence through safety, respect and responsibility. We aspire to offer authentic, quality educational experiences that develop futures, create opportunities and inspire student potential; enabling our students to be valued and contributing members of the wider community. We share and celebrate our successes and achievements.
The Issue Highlights
Dear Families,
It has been a busy term for all as we approach the end of Term 2.
Next Friday we have our annual Pyjama Day to finish the term, as well as celebrating our termly Achievement Assembly.
As of the first day of Term 3, Anthony will be back in his Principal role with us. He is very much looking forward to being back with us and reconnecting with staff, students and families/carers. He has very much missed his Jackson Community.
I would like to take the opportuity to thank everyone for their support of me whist doing this role in his absence. I thank the entire school community for your support, collaboration, and trust during my time as Acting Principal.
End of Term Assembly
Due to the fact that we have too many staff, students and families to fit into one session in the hall these days, we are trying something new and doing 2 assemblies. During the summer months, the courtyard can house us all, but the winter months proves a challenge when the weather changes and we need the hall. This way you all have the opportunity to come along and support your child if you would like to.
Any feedback to the new arrangement would be welcome.
Friday 4th July.
Prep – Year 4 assembly = 9:15am start in the hall
Year 5 and up = 10.10am start in the hall.
End of Semester 1 Reports
You should receive your child's report by the end of semester which outlines your child's achievement and progress against their learning goals based upon the Victorian Curriculum (P-10) or VPC/ASDAN in Years 11 & 12. These are based upon robust end of term assessments and teacher's professional judgement. Parents/carers can also access them online via Xuno Parent Portal. Parents and carers are able to request a hard copy of their child’s report if they would like one through their current class teacher. There is a section for you to provide any comments or feedback to the classroom teacher on your child's report should you wish.
SSG Meetings
Parents and carers will have an opportunity to discuss your child's progress from Semester 1 and their proposed learning goals for Semester 2 2025 at your upcoming Student Support Group (SSG) parent-teacher meeting in Term 3.
The date for these meetings is Tuesday 29th July between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
To ensure all families can participate, bookings must be made via Xuno, where you can choose between a face-to-face meeting or a phone call.
We have included a step-by-step guide to assist you in booking your SSG appointment through Xuno.
Census Data
Department of Education’s August Census, takes place on Friday, 1st August 2025.
Can you please review the data on the 2025 Census Data Collection Form that was sent home with your child this week. If any details are incorrect, please cross them out and write the correct information next to them. Tick correct information.
All forms are required to be sent back to school as soon as possible.
If you experience any difficulties booking an SSG appointment or have questions regarding the census, please contact our office on (03) 9366 4322.
I’d like to remind all families about SchoolTV, which is an important resource available to support the wellbeing of our students and families.
With the school holidays ahead this highlighted topic is a reminder that setting limits, establishing routines, and finding a healthy balance between online and offline activities is important. It is also important to be mindful of how screen time impacts sleep, social interactions, and overall well-being.
