Brass Quintet

Thank you to our enthusiastic Brass students from Years 5 – 10 who auditioned yesterday for a spot in our new established Brass Quintet. The Quintet allows for performance extension for 5 of our brass players, who will work on balance and intonation in a small ensemble through a wide range of contrasting repertoire.  Successful applicants will be emailed soon, with rehearsals starting in Week 7 and led by our new Trumpet tutor, Mr Matthew Hyam. The group will rehearse weekly on a Wednesday at recess in MR1.

Drumline at Chinese New Year Lantern Parade

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to our outstanding Drumline, led by Dr JB Smith, for their vibrant and professional representation of the College and Parish at the Chatswood Chinese New Year Lantern Parade on Saturday evening. Your energy, musicianship and community spirit were on full display, and we are immensely proud of the way you showcased our College.

Pipe Organ Recital

Congratulations to our Year 11, Music 2 student, Marko Fry, on presenting his first pipe organ recital at St Peter’s Anglican Church, East Maitland last weekend. Built in 1876, the historic pipe organ proved a magnificent instrument and a fitting stage for this important milestone in Marko’s musical journey. Marko performed a vast repertoire, including works by JS Bach, Pachelbel, Buxtehude and Krebs.

An accomplished pianist, Marko commenced formal organ studies with Samuel Giddy at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2023 and has also had the opportunity to play several notable organs across Sydney. No two organs are the same! Later this term, Marko will further refine his playing as he undertakes his first Music 2 Performance assessment on the organ at Our Lady of Dolours Church.
