Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 4!  From all accounts families took the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, be it a staycation or overseas travel.  We have an exciting term ahead of us, with so many activities already underway.  

With the current war in Israel, can I please invite you all to take a moment to pray for peace.  

Peace Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Year 5/6 Camp 2024 - NEW CAMP ARRANGEMENTS

I'm pleased to announce that the students in years 5/6 2024 will be heading off to Canberra in week 4 of Term 1.  The student cheers could be heard from afar when the announcement was made.  Parent communication was shared via email yesterday, including a detailed itinerary.

Upcoming Events

Water damage repairs - UPDATE                                                                                                                      

As many of you will have noticed, 100% of our new carpet has now been installed.  The plumbers have installed our new box gutter and Melbourne weather has already tested it out.  

The Preps excitedly returned to their classroom at the beginning of the term.  The playroom is open and the Deputy Principal and LSO office has also been reinstated.

Plaster, painting and joinery works are planned for the coming weeks.  We look forward to reopening the entire Project very soon.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the recent loss of loved ones and wish the Ohlert and Scalzo families peace, comfort, courage and lots of love at this time of sorrow. 

After School Dance Classes at St James                                                                                          

Leisa Giannopoulos, also known as Miss Leisa, our School Production Director is offering school dance classes onsite, every Thursday in our school hall.  We are so excited to be offering this additional activity onsite for the students to access and it is not too late to join.

Participating children will be performing at the St James Twilight Christmas Carols on the  

30th of November.

St James School Vision and School Priorities (Post Review)

Last year the school participated in our school review.  Following the review we received a report including recommendations for forward planning.  We have met as a Leadership team and in consultation with staff and MACS consultants have set our new school priorities for continuous improvement for the next four years.  (Please see the attached information).

Working With Children Checks

St James is a Child Safe School.  As part of our Child Safe practices and processes we are required to maintain up to date information of parents and volunteers who hold a current (Working With Children Check) and would like to assist with a school activity.

If you currently hold a WWCC and intend on helping out with school activities in the near or not too distant future, can you please fill in the attached Google Form.

The summer uniform can now be worn with a two week change over period. We expect all students to be in the full summer uniform by the end of week 2. 

Hats are to be worn from day one of term 4.
