Hello from Food Science

Food Science Fun with Our Newest Chefs!

 

Each term, our Food Science program welcomes a new group of eager students ready to experience the joys of preparing, cooking, and tasting delicious food. This term is extra special as we welcome our Year 3 students for the very first time!

 

We began with important safety reminders and class expectations, followed by a fun hand hygiene experiment using pepper, water, and dish soap to show how soap helps remove germs.

 

Then it was time to get hands-on in the kitchen! Our young chefs kicked things off by making berry smoothies, learning that healthy, tasty snacks don’t need many ingredients or much time to prepare. Smoothies make a great breakfast or afternoon treat.

 

Food Science is all about developing practical skills in a fun, engaging way Over the term, students will chop, mix, knead, and bake their way through recipes like scones, muffins, mini pizzas, fruit skewers, and pikelets. And yes—staff are always happy to sample any leftovers!

 

We’re excited for a fantastic term of cooking with our newest little chefs.
