After a recent incident involving a student while they were riding their bike we thought sharing a few road safety resources that may be useful for parents, teachers & students.
While it is an unfortunate incident, it also provides an opportunity to check in with the wider school community and reinforce some important road safety messages as children travel to and from school.

Offers practical tips on riding safely, helmet use, bike maintenance and visibility, which could be useful for families with children who ride to school.
Bike riders and sharing the road
Provides guidance on road rules and safe behaviours for bike riders, helping children and parents better understand how to safely share the road with other users.
Starting Primary School fact sheet - safe travel to and from school
A simple, practical resource for parents covering safe travel to and from school, including walking, riding, passenger safety and drop off and pick up tips. It could be a useful inclusion in Foundation welcome packs.
Starting Secondary School fact sheet - safe travel to and from school
Although designed for students transitioning to secondary school, it includes useful information about independent travel, distractions and road awareness that may also be relevant for older OGPS students.
