From the Office

From our Acting Principal
Term 3 is rocketing past at Raywood Primary and we have been enjoying learning all about Space and the Solar System as our Inquiry learning topic this term. In the P/1 classroom it has been exciting to see students consolidating their knowledge of letters and sounds and taking some real leaps and bounds with reading in the last few weeks. Term 3 is such a wonderful term of learning for early years students and is often when we see big steps taken. The 2-6 classroom has been busy as well and it’s been great to see students become more able to work independently on complex learning tasks. Well done everyone!
Miss. Bell
This week Miss. Bell has joined us at Raywood PS. Bell comes to us with experience working as an Education Support staff member at Kennington PS and we look forward to welcoming her into our school community. Miss. Bell will be supporting learning in both classrooms and will be with us every day of the week. Please help her feel welcome when you cross paths at school.
School Photos
Don’t forget School Photos will be taken tomorrow. Please send along your order form in the morning if you haven’t already.
Bendigo Writer’s Festival Excursion
We are looking forward to heading into Bendigo on Friday to join in school sessions at the Writer’s Festival. Students will hear from local authors, illustrators and also some local first nations elders during sessions at The Capital and Ulumbarra with students from other local schools. It’s exciting to be able to celebrate literacy in this way and who knows, we may uncover a budding writer in our midst!
Book Week
Another literacy celebration to look forward to next week with Book Week on the horizon! We will be celebrating by incorporating some short-listed Picture Story Books into our learning next week. We are excited to have the Raywood Playgroup visit us on Monday morning for a story and craft activity and then on Thursday we will be holding our Dress Up Day. On this day Bridgewater Primary School will be visiting us for the day and joining in some literacy activities led by Mrs. Gentry, our shared MARC Librarian. We will have a Book Week Parade in the morning, Sausage Sizzle lunch and some P.E activities in the afternoon with Bridgey joining us for the whole day. Please join us for the Book Week Parade at 9.30am for those who are able too.
Home Reading
Well done to those students who received their 50 Night and 100 Night Home Reading awards on Friday. It won’t be too long before we are looking to hand out 150-night awards at school. A reminder for parents to please jot down the name of the book or books each night into your child’s reading diary, older students may do this on their own if they are able too but please still pop a little comment or sign their entry.
100 Days of Prep and Milo’s Birthday Party
On Friday the 29th of August we will be celebrating our Prep Students having achieved 100 Days at School! Whilst we know the 100-day mark passed by a week or so ago, we wanted to hold off just that little bit longer to coordinate this celebration with also celebrating Milo’s Birthday Party. The P/1 class have been diligently reading Milo’s Birthday Party each week as Milo the Monkey introduces us to all of his friends and their matching letters and sounds. We look forward to celebrating with Milo as he finally has his birthday! All students will be encouraged to dress up in their best old person costume on this day to help celebrate our Prep student’s achievement.
Review Input Survey
A big thank you to those families who have taken the time to provide some feedback ahead of our upcoming School review next term. If you haven’t had the chance to jot down some thoughts, we would love your input through this short survey: https://forms.gle/qciQpSrhCv3iPXBu8

For being super organised for learning every morning; signing in, changing her reader and welcoming her friends.
That's all for this week- James Sait
